Chandigarh, Nov 26 – In a concerted effort to address the escalating global concern of drug addiction, the Haryana Government is addressing drug addiction in a comprehensive manner through three multifaceted initiatives:  raising public awareness, rescuing and rehabilitating youth trapped in the cycle of addiction and actively dismantling the drug supply chain.

This was stated by the Chief Minister Sh. Manohar Lal while speaking as chief guest at the 11th annual function of Gyan Mansarovar of Prajapita Brahma Kumari Ishwariya Vishwavidyalaya in Panipat today. 

On this occasion, the Chief Minister also launched the Drug-Free Haryana campaign as part of the larger Drug-Free India Campaign and flagged off the Drug-Free Campaign Awareness Bus.  Apart from laying the foundation stone of Manmohini Bhawan being built at a cost of about Rs 3 crore in Gyan Mansarovar, he also inaugurated Dadi Chandramani Universal Peace Auditorium established at a cost of about Rs 3 crore in Gyan Mansarovar.

Addressing the people, the Chief Minister affirmed the government's strict actions against individuals involved in drug trade and anti-national activities. Recognizing the link between terrorist organizations and the drug trade, he said that the provision of stringent penalties for such illicit collaborations has already been made by the government.

Sanskar and Meditation as key solutions to combat drug addiction

Providing a succinct solution to drug addiction with two words—sanskar and meditation—the Chief Minister emphasized the significance of embracing values passed down by ancestors and society, coupled with dedicated meditation in devotion to God, as deterrents to drug addiction. He urged parents to instill positive values in their children and encourage them to focus on devotion to God.

Sant Samaj also joins hands in Anti-Drug campaign, inspiring youth to combat substance Abuse - CM

Shri Manohar Lal highlighted the collaborative efforts of Sant Samaj and other organizations in the anti-drug campaign, organizing various programs to inspire youth to combat drug abuse. He underscored the drug-free campaign as a source of inspiration and said that the association with the theme of Lokaarth-Paramarth enhances the importance of every event.

He also highlighted the Haryana Government's proactive stance against drug addiction through the Drug-Free Sankalp Cycle Yatra held throughout the state in September. With over 5 lakh participants over the 25-day journey, a collective resolve was forged to combat drug addiction. He urged sisters, mothers, and daughters to actively engage in the de-addiction campaign, instill positive values in their male family members, and consistently inspire them to resist drug abuse. He also announced a discretionary grant of Rs 21 lakh for Prajapita Brahma Kumari Ishwariya Vishwavidyalaya, Panipat.

Speaking on this occasion, Rajya Sabha MP Krishna Lal Panwar encouraged people to adopt the fundamental principle of serving the underprivileged from the Ashram and actively contribute to social reform. Subsequently, Dr. Pratap Midhra, Director of Global Hospital, Mount Abu, provided insights into the drug-free campaign, noting that Brahma Kumaris organized 2000 awareness rallies and conducted 5000 programs against drug addiction.

Former Minister Bachchan Singh Arya, Gyan Mansarovar Retreat Center Director BK Bharat Bhushan, Panipat sub-zone in-charge Rajyogini BK Sarala Behan, Deputy Commissioner Virendra Dahiya, BK Shivani and other dignitaries were also present on this occasion.
