Chandigarh, December 15 – On the first of the Winter session of the Haryana Vidhan Sabha which commenced here today, obituary resolutions were passed to pay rich tributes to those prominent personalities who have expired between the period from the end of the previous session and the beginning of this session.

Leader of the House and Chief Minister, Sh. Manohar Lal paid tributes and read out the obituary resolutions. These include Professor Chhattar Singh Chauhan, former Speaker of Haryana Legislative Assembly and Dr. Ram  Prakash, former Minister of State, Haryana.

Vidhan Sabha Speaker, Sh. Gian Chand Gupta also read the obituary resolutions and paid tributes to the departed souls. The House conveyed its heartfelt condolences to the members of the bereaved families. Leader of the Opposition, Sh. Bhupinder Singh Hooda also read the obituary resolutions on behalf of his party.

The House gave a tearful farewell to 18 brave Martyrs of Haryana who showed indomitable courage and made the supreme sacrifice while safeguarding the unity and integrity of the motherland. These include, Major Ashish Dhonchak of village Binjhol, District Panipat, Captain Poonam Rani of village Balu, District Kaithal, Subedar Sarjeet Singh of village Alakhpura, District Bhiwani, Naib Subedar Ashok of village Bhaini Chanderpal, District Rohtak, Assistant Sub Inspector Dharambir Singh of village Farmana, District Sonipat, Havildar Maan Singh of village Ganwari Jat, District Mahendragarh, Havildar Shamsher Singh of village Kherainti, District Rohtak, Havildar Sudhir Singh of village Bhaini Chanderpal, District Rohtak, Havildar Rakesh Lamba of village Barda, District Mahendragarh, Commando Karan Singh of village Kakroli Hatti, District Charkhi Dadri, Naik Mahender of village Garhipatti, District Palwal, Naik Sandeep Kumar of village Mundsa, District Jhajjar, Naik Virender Rathee of village Rajlu Garhi, District Sonipat, Airman Vikas of village Rata Khurd, District Mahendragarh, Sepoy Sandeep of village Kurahwata, District Mahendragarh, Sepoy Yudhishtir of village Khambi, District Palwal, Sepoy Jawahar Singh of village Kharkhari, District Rewari, and Sepoy Jaspal Singh of village Kewal, District Sirsa.

Apart from this, the House also expressed deep sorrow for the sad demise of Sh. Ranjan Mittal, brother in law of Sh. Gian Chand Gupta, Speaker of Haryana Legislative Assembly, Rao Arjun Singh, nephew of Rao Inderjit Singh, Union Minister of State, Smt. Shakuntala Rani, mother of Smt. Sunita Duggal, MP, Sh. Mohammad Hanif, father of Sh. Mamman Khan, MLA, Sh. Virender Kumar Sharma, brother in law of Sh. Ram Kumar Gautam, MLA, Smt. Vijay Laxmi, aunt of Sh. Neeraj Sharma, MLA, Sh. Ganga Sahay, brother in law of Sh. Kuldeep Vats, MLA and Smt. Risal Kaur wife of Sh. Tekram, former MLA.
