Chandigarh, April 1 -  Haryana Chief Minister, Sh. Manohar Lal said that Gurugram is an important city and because of its fame Gurugram it is acting as a bridge to connect the state with the entire world.

 The Chief Minister said this while addressing a gathering on Friday after inaugurating an underpass, flyover built by Gurugram Metropolitan Development Authority near Gurugram's HUDA City Centre metro station and Signature Tower and two foot-over-bridges built at IFFCO Chowk.

The Chief Minister also inaugurated the water supply distribution system for Sector-111 to 115 of Gurugram at the same place. An amount of Rs. 63 crore have been spent on both these projects. This will benefit a population size of 92,000.

Addressing the gathering, the Chief Minister said that the Central Government has implemented the Smart City Project, but Gurugram will be made the Smartest City in the entire country.  

We are making adequate arrangements while keeping in view the estimated population of 42 lakh in Gurugram by 2031 so that people do not face difficulties in future also," said Sh. Manohar Lal. 

He said that the HUDA City Centre metro station area in Gurugram city will be free from traffic jams with the inauguration of these projects, inaugurated today.  Similarly, work is underway on several projects to relieve Gurugram from traffic jams. Many of these projects would be completed this year, he added. 

Giving examples,  the Chief Minister said that the work of flyover being constructed at a cost of Rs. 47 crore at Lieutenant Atul Kataria Chowk would be completed by June 30 and the work of improvement of Rao Mahaveer Chowk being done at a cost of about Rs. 25.5 crore would also be completed by the end of July.  Similarly, work is going on at a war footing at Captain Umang Bhardwaj Chowk to be constructed at a cost of about Rs. 80 crore.
Earlier,  Gurugram MLA, Sh. Sudhir Singla while welcoming the Chief Minister said that it is due to the vision of the Chief Minister that holistic development is being ensured in Gurugram.  

The state government is now getting the development work done keeping in mind the needs of the next 50 years of Gurugram, he added. 

He that the  HUDA City Centre Metro station used to be jammed but now with the completion of the projects, people will get relief from the jam and many hours of the people will be saved.  

He said that it's hard for the Opposition to digest the honesty of the Chief Minister and the  Chief Minister is ensuring equal development in the entire state with utmost honesty.

On this occasion, Public Safety Advisor to Chief Minister, Sh. Anil Kumar Rao, Mayor, Smt. Madhu Azad, Divisional Commissioner, Sh. Rajeev Ranjan, Commissioner of Police, Smt. Kala Ramachandran, Deputy Commissioner, Sh. Nishant Kumar Yadav and officials of GMDA were present.
