Chandigarh, April 5: In a bid to recognize and reward outstanding detection, investigation, bravery and outstanding performance of administrative duties by Haryana Police Personnel, the State Cabinet which met under the Chairmanship of Chief Minister, Sh. Manohar Lal here today accorded approval to a proposal for introducing three State Police Awards namely CM's Medal for Bravery, HM's Medal for Excellence in Investigation and Haryana Police Uttam Seva Padak.

Chief Minister Medal for Bravery

The Medal shall be awarded to officers, officials of Haryana Police of all ranks who display exceptional and conspicuous acts of bravery above and beyond the normal call of duty, in saving life and property or in preventing crime or arresting criminals, encounter of hardcore criminals or in management, control of mass agitation, large-scale law and order disturbance, the risks incurred by the officer being estimated with due regard to the obligations and duties of the officer concerned.

Home Minister Medal for Excellence Investigation

The Medal shall be awarded to officers, officials who adopt innovative, scientific methods of investigation, make use of forensic tools, make use of online investigation tools, display prompt filing of charge-sheet and secure convictions, etc. Act as an incentive to the rank and file to aspire to and maintain high standards of investigation of crime in the State and thereby promote higher levels of professionalism among the police force and benefit society by increasing the conviction rates.

Haryana Police Uttam Seva Padak

The Seva Padak shall  be granted by the Director General of  Police and serve to encourage the officers, officials in the field of Law and Order, IT Techniques, Traffic Management, Administrative work in Police Stations Community Policing and all other police jobs or those who through recordkeeping and housekeeping, provide invaluable administrative support not only to the personnel in the field but also to the senior formations involved in making policy decisions and are not recognized by any formal reward or award.

The officers and officials officers who are conferred these medals will be recognized with a medal along with colour display above the left pocket on the uniform, a certificate, scroll signed by the Chief Minister and Home Minister with a one-time cash reward of Rs. 21,000 and six months extension in service after retirement for Group B and C police officials (if they are not availing of any other extension in service). The number of medals in a calendar year should not be more than 10 in each category.
