Chandigarh, August 8 – Haryana Chief Minister, Sh. Manohar Lal said that soon STPs will be set up at Dharuhera and Rewari to resolve the problem of dirty water coming from Bhiwadi, the industrial area of Rajasthan.
The NGT has issued orders that the Rajasthan government will provide money for this and the Haryana government will set up an STP, informed Sh. Manohar Lal.
The Chief Minister was replying to a question asked by MLA Sh. Chiranjeev Rao regarding the problem of water logging in Rewari and Dharuhera during the question hour on the first day of the Monsoon session of the State Vidhan Sabha here today.
Sh. Manohar Lal apprised the House that in the meeting of the NITI Aayog held recently in New Delhi, a meeting was also held with the Chief Secretaries of Haryana and Rajasthan on this issue and as per the order of the NGT, a treatment plant would be set up soon and people will get rid of this problem.
Replying to another question, the Chief Minister said that some areas in the state face the water logging problem for almost three months during the monsoon season, but the state government has made adequate arrangements for water drainage.
Reach of water to the tail end is also being assured through the lift irrigation systems and pumps. For the last 3 years, about 8-10 feet of water is there in the Masani dam, Rewari district, this has happened for the first time, informed the Chief Minister.
He said that although there are some districts in the State where irrigation area is less and a proposal is being made to reallocation of the water share of these areas to others. This will ensure proper use of water, added Sh. Manohar Lal.
The Chief Minister said that the present State Government is also promoting micro-irrigation through MICADA in the areas having water scarcity. This saves water up to 30 per cent along with increasing yield.
