Chandigarh, July 1: Haryana Chief Minister, Sh. Manohar Lal has lauded the work done by the Chief Minister's Good Governance Associates (CMGGAs) Programme for the last five years. These associates work as a dedicated team in the successful implementation of in-principle approved government schemes in coordination with the local administration in the field. This programme of Haryana has also been appreciated at the national level and some states have taken the initiative to follow it.
Sh. Manohar Lal was speaking at the passing-out occasion of the fifth batch of Chief Minister's Good Governance Associates at Haryana Niwas late yesterday evening. Representatives of partner companies supporting CMGGA through CSR attended the programme virtually.
The Chief Minister said that he is happy that since the last five years the CMGGA programme has been giving positive results in the delivery of schemes and services at the grassroots level. The Good Governance Associates of this batch have done an excellent job even in the hour of crisis during the COVID-19 pandemic, which is commendable. Some Associates also excelled in post-covid management. Apart from this, along with the flagship schemes of the government like Parivar Pehchan Patra, e-Office, Antyodaya Saral, Play-way School, women's safety, Saksham Haryana and skill development, improvement in sex ratio in the state, organ donation and transplantation, anemia prevention as well as the Associates have also worked on various projects like solid waste management. It may be mentioned that this programme was conceived by the Chief Minister, Sh. Manohar Lal in the year 2016 to provide an opportunity to young professionals to work with the government and improve public service delivery in Haryana and for this a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed in association with Ashoka University, Sonipat to plan the programme and take it forward in a phased manner. During the last five years, 123 young professionals have worked under the leadership of Chief Minister's Office as well as Deputy Commissioners in the form of CMGGA with the concept of Good Governance through Innovative Initiatives. This mixed approach to work was very successful among the youth and on an average, each batch had candidates from most of the states of India.
The Chief Minister expressed happiness over the fact that his vision of bringing transparency in government work, adopting zero tolerance towards corruption and working with the spirit of Antyodaya has been embodied to a great extent by the Chief Minister's Good Governance Associates.
Giving information in this regard, Program Director, CMGGA, Dr. Rakesh Gupta, said that this programme has been started to encourage young professionals to work directly with the government to ensure efficiency and transparency in the civil service delivery system across the state.
It was necessary to continue the programme and provide all possible help to the state and district administrations even in the midst of extreme circumstances arising out of COVID-19. He said that the selection process of the next batch is going on and more than 2600 applications have been received and it is expected that by August 5, new Good Governance Associates will take charge.
Co-Founder and Trustee, Ashoka University, Sh. Vineet Gupta, said that a large number of applications are being received for the fellowships since last five years, thereby increasing the competition level. After an intensive selection process, 25 applicants become part of the programme. In the last five years, a total of 123 associates have made a profound impact on many sectors in Haryana. Sh. Vineet Gupta informed the Chief Minister that Ashoka University has also provided Chief Minister Good Governance Associates to the states of Punjab and Delhi.
All the Good Governance Associates informed the Chief Minister about their work experiences of one year and drew attention of the Chief Minister to their future goals.
The Chief Minister gave certificates to all and wished them a bright future.
