Chandigarh, July 12: Haryana  Chief Minister, Sh. Manohar Lal unveiled a Coffee Table Book titled ‘UNTOLD stories’ of Haryana Police during the ERSS launch event today in Panchkula, in the presence of Home Minister Sh Anil Vij and other senior dignitaries.

This book showcases the extraordinary and gallant work by officers and men of Haryana Police during the past 16 months of Covid pandemic, and pay tribute to the 49 police martyrs who succumbed to the pandemic, after having been infected during the course of their duty, through pictures. The book specially features the ‘Karamveers’ of the Police department - those officers and men who have made extraordinary efforts beyond the call of duty, in enforcing the lockdown, providing assistance to the public or making them aware of COVID-19 safety measures in the past 16 months.

On this occasion, Chief Minister Sh. Manohar Lal said that the dedication, hard work, and resilience displayed by the Haryana Police and its leadership during this challenging period is commendable. The Police not only performed capably in various tasks aimed at controlling the pandemic but also handled the additional challenge of various law and order situations in the state.

Home Minister Sh Anil Vij, also specially noted that Haryana Police had the biggest role to play in control of the pandemic, and lowering of infection rates.

The prologue of the book, penned by DGP Haryana Sh. Manoj Yadava, gives an overview of the role of police. It says that Haryana Police was instrumental in providing succor and relief to people in addition to enforcing the lockdown strictly. In addition,  the human side of policing came to the fore in these trying times as the 50,000 strong force worked round the clock to help in combating the virus, which makes it a good idea to document the humanitarian work through a medium like Coffee Table Book. Out of more than 6500 police personnel who got infected with the coronavirus, 49 policemen of Haryana Police made supreme sacrifice at the altar of their duty. ‘Untold stories’ book of Haryana Police also marks a salute to the dedication and sincerity shown by the martyrs in serving the nation and people of the state.

A glimpse of CID’s Operation Samvedna, which was run in collaboration with the Civil Administration, can also be seen in this Coffee Table Book through the visuals of Haryana Police personnel providing food, shelter, and travel assistance to thousands of laborers and migrant workers who availed this facility.

Prominent among the others, Haryana Vidhan Sabha Sh. Gian Chand Gupta, Chief Secretary Sh. Vijay Vardhan and ACS Home Sh. Rajiv Arora graced the occasion with their presence.
