Chandigarh, July 14- Haryana Chief Minister, Sh. Manohar Lal today met Union Urban and Housing Minister, Sh. Hardeep Singh Puri at Nirman Bhawan in New Delhi and held detailed discussions on various key issues of the state.
Later interacting with the media, the Chief Minister said that soon the state government will provide about one lakh houses to eligible families in the state. He said that during the meeting, he had apprised the Union Minister that some of the targets set under housing projects have been achieved by Haryana.
The Chief said that the Union Cabinet has approved the Gurugram Metro project and he has expressed gratitude to the Union Minister for the same. A request has been made before Sh. Hardeep Puri that the work on this project should be started at the earliest, said Sh. Manohar Lal.
Discussions held for the early commencement of Panipat and Shahzadpur RRTS projects from Delhi's Sarai Kale Khan, CM
Sh. Manohar Lal informed that discussions have also been held regarding starting work on both the RRTS projects from Sarai Kale Khan to Panipat, and Sarai Kale Khan to Shahzadpur.
He informed that the Delhi government is creating hurdles regarding these projects, on this the Supreme Court has also reprimanded the Delhi government and the next hearing has been fixed on July 24. Similarly, the difficulty faced regarding the RRTS project has also been discussed.
Divulging details about these projects, the Chief Minister said that the state government has given a suggestion that if Delhi does not agree then the line from Sarai Kale Khan to Shahzadpur should be started from Aero City so that the line can be started in the part of Haryana. Similarly, the discussion was also held regarding Rs. 3000 crore which Delhi has to give for the Panipat line.
Doing politics on natural calamities is unethical
Responding to a question regarding Yamuna water coming to Delhi, the Chief Minister said that it is a natural disaster; it is unethical to do politics even in such a time. He said that the water level in the rivers has increased due to heavy rains and the rapid flow of rainwater from hilly areas.
Hathnikund is a barrage, not a dam
Sh. Manohar Lal further informed that there was one lakh cusecs of water in the Yamuna River on the first day, but on the very next day, it suddenly increased to 3.70 lakh cusecs.
“As far as the issue of the release of water is concerned, we have informed Delhi’s Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal that Hathnikund is a barrage and not a dam. Water flow is controlled in dams, however in barrage; the water can only be regulated in a small quantity. The capacity of the barrage is one lakh cusecs and it is difficult to stop the water above this level,” said Sh. Manohar Lal.
He said that the excessive flow of water has also adversely affected Yamunanagar, Karnal etc and now the same flow is entering Delhi.
The water level of some rivers is decreasing
The Chief Minister said that similarly, the water level in other rivers has also decreased because of which the increased water levels in Karnal and Kurukshetra are gradually declining. However, the flow of water is high in Sonipat, Delhi, Faridabad and Palwal and there is a possibility that the level will reduce in the coming 48 hours, said Sh. Manohar Lal.

Taking a jibe at Delhi's Chief Minister, Sh. Manohar Lal said that it seems that Haryana has become a nightmare for Kejriwal whenever Delhi is in trouble. Be it a pollution issue, water issue or any other, when Arvind Kejriwal fails to find any solution, he starts playing the blame game. Doing politics even on natural calamities is totally unethical, said Sh. Manohar Lal.
Responding to a question regarding the statement of Punjab Chief Minister, Sh. Bhagwant Mann, Sh. Manohar Lal said that one should refrain from doing politics on natural calamities.
