Chandigarh, June 4 – Haryana Chief Minister, Sh. Manohar Lal said that the government is ensuring to provide uninterrupted power to the people of the State. It has been decided to import coal in advance so that no thermal power plant should be closed due to shortage of coal in future.

The Chief Minister gave this information while answering to media queries after presiding over the meeting of 'High Power Purchase Committee' at Haryana Niwas here today.

Haryana Transport Minister, Sh. Moolchand Sharma, Minister of State for Revenue and Disaster Management, Sh. Anoop Dhanak, Additional Chief Secretary, Electricity Department, Sh. PK Das, Director General of Supply and Disposal Department, Sh. Mohammed Shayin besides other senior officers were present in the meeting.

Haryana Chief Minister, Sh. Manohar Lal, while expressing his commitment towards public welfare, said that there was a slight power problem in the past few days due to the increase in temperature. The Coal India Company had raised concerns that all states should import and retain some coal. In view of the same, the state government has started preparations in advance to buy good quality coal so that there is no shortage of coal in future. He told that today a company has been authorized in this regard.

On the question of media visiting the site in Chandigarh for the construction of new building of Haryana Vidhan Sabha, the Chief Minister said that the size of the present building of Haryana Vidhan Sabha is small. A letter was written on behalf of Haryana Government to Chandigarh UT Administration to provide space for construction of big building, on which some sites have been suggested to them. The same inspection visit was done today.

Responding to the question of the BJP-JJP alliance contesting together in the municipal elections, the Chief Minister, Sh. Manohar Lal said that his opponents have left the electoral field and it is clear that only the coalition of his government will win unilaterally.

Responding to a question related to the election of two Rajya Sabha seats from Haryana, the Chief Minister said that his party's candidate needs the votes of only 31 MLAs, rest of the votes will go to the independent candidate.
