Chandigarh, March 12: Haryana Chief Minister, Sh. Manohar Lal today inaugurated a photo exhibition as part of ‘Azadi Ka Amrit’ Mahotsav being organized to commemorate the 75 years of independence India, in the auditorium of Government College, Sector-1, Panchkula.
Chief Minister, Mr Manohar Lal accompanied by Union Minister of State for Jal Shakti and Social Justice and Empowerment, Sh. Ratan Lal Kataria and Minister of State for Sports and Youth Affairs, Sh. Sandeep Singh went around the exhibition showcasing the life story of leaders who fought for India's independence.
Earlier, Sh. Manohar Lal also flagged off a cycle rally as part of the Azadi Ka Amrit’ Mahotsav in which about 150 children participated. The rally which commenced from the Government College, Sector-1 concluded at Tau Devi Lal Sports Stadium after passing through Bela Vista chowk and bus stand, sector-5.
During this five-day event which will last upto March 16, various competitions and cultural programmes would be organized. This exhibition would be open to the audience from 10 am to 5 pm on these days. The exhibition depicts the life story of leaders who fought for India's independence such as Subhash Chandra Bose, Sardar Vallabh Bhai Patel, Mahatma Gandhi and other freedom fighters.
Later, interacting with the media persons, Mr. Manohar Lal said that today is a historic occasion. He said that 91 years ago, Mahatma Gandhi started dandi march on this day in 1930. Coincidentally, Prime Minister, Shri Narendra Modi today flagged off a pad-yatra being organized from Sabarmati Ashram in Ahmedabad upto Dandi. The padyatra would reach Dandi by April 5, he added.
Congratulating the people after inaugurating the exhibition, the Chief Minister said that this event of India's 75th anniversary would be concluded in 2022. He said that Prime Minister, Shri Narendra Modi has set many goals including Housing For All and doubling the income of farmers, which would be fulfilled on the completion of 75 years of India's independence. Today, the Haryana budget has been presented for the year 2021-22 through which efforts would be made to realize all such goals, he asserted.
It is noteworthy that Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav is a series of events organized by the Government of India to commemorate the 75th anniversary of Independence. The festival would be celebrated as a mass festival in the spirit of public participation. A National Implementation Committee has been constituted under the chairmanship of the Home Minister, which has chalked out an action plan for various events. These activities have started 75 weeks before 15 August 2022, that is today, March 12, 2021.
A cultural programme was also organized on this occasion, in which patriotic songs and Haryanvi programmes were presented. The Additional Director General of North Zone of the Union Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, Smt. Devpreet Singh presented a book based on Satyagraha to Chief Minister Mr. Manohar Lal.
Among those present on this occasion included Divisional Commissioner, Ambala, Smt. Deepti Umashankar, Principal Secretary, Sports and Youth Affairs Department, Sh. Yogendra Chaudhary, Additional Principal Secretary to Chief Minister and Director General, Information, Public Relations and Languages Department , Dr Amit Kumar Agrawal, Director General, Sports and Youth Affairs, Sh. S.S. Phulia, Additional Deputy Commissioner, Panchkula Mohd. Imran Raza, Deputy Commissioner of Police, Sh Mohit Handa, BJP Haryana Vice President, Smt Banto Kataria and other senior officers of district administration .
