Chandigarh, March 24: Haryana Chief Minister, Sh. Manohar Lal administered the oath of office to Sh. Bhopal Singh, new Chairman of Haryana State Selection Commission (HSSC) at the swearing-in ceremony held at Haryana Niwas here today. Education Minister, Sh. Kanwar Pal was also present.
Sh. Bhopal Singh who took oath of Allegiance, Post and Secrecy in the presence of Chief Minister pledged that while holding Commission's dignity he would ensure that transparent and merit-based selection remains his prime focus.
“The new Chairman and Members of the Commission are expected to carry out the recruitment process by making a suitable schedule in an appropriate manner and as per the requisition sent by the Government. Besides this, the new Chairman is also expected to uphold the dignity of the Commission by following merit-based and transparent recruitment process,” said the Chief Minister while interacting with the media persons after the ceremony.
He said that One Time Registration Portal for group C and D category posts has been launched. With the launch of this Portal, youth would be required to apply and submit fees on the Portal only once. He said that the State Government has already announced to conduct a Common Eligibility Test (CET) by Haryana Staff Selection Commission (HSSC) for filling up different posts of Group C and D category. All these steps taken by the State Government would not only bring about more transparency but also speed up the recruitment process.
Meanwhile, later, Sh. Bhopal Singh in presence of the Education Minister also administered the oath of office to Sh. Vijay Kumar, Sh. Satywan Shera, Sh. Vikas Dahiya and Sh. Sachin Jain as new members of the Commission.
Sh. Bhopal Singh is a postgraduate in eight subjects and also holds Law degree. For the past six years, he has served as a member of the Commission.
The Chairman and Members of the Commission have been appointed for a period of three years from the date they take over as such or till the Chairman shall attain the age of 68 years and Members attain the age of 65 years whichever is earlier.
Principal Secretary to Chief Minister, Sh. V. Umashankar, Principal Secretary, General Administration Department, Sh. Vijayendra Kumar and other officers were present at the ceremony.
