Chandigarh, March 26: Chief Minister, Sh. Manohar Lal said that the farmers will get full compensation for crop loss by the month of May after assessing the damage due to the recent unseasonal rains and hailstorms. He said that the work of Girdawari would be completed in 15 days and compensation would be given to all the farmers in a transparent manner.

The Chief Minister was speaking at a programme organized here today.

Present government gave 1,300 crore compensation

Sh. Manohar Lal said that the present government has given compensation of Rs 1,300 crore to the farmers. He said that it is mandatory for the farmers to fill the details of their losses on the e-Fasal Kshatipurti portal. “Apart from this, those farmers who cannot fill the assessment of losses on the portal themselves, can get it filled by visiting the Common Service Centre. Its expenses will be borne by the government,” he added.

He said that the farmers who get crop insurance are paid by the company and the farmers who do not get insurance will be given compensation of Rs 15,000 per acre by the government.

Government brought radical changes in the system

Responding to a question, the Chief Minister said that apart from basic development like construction of schools, colleges, roads, railway lines, resolving the problems of the citizens and increasing the happiness index; the present government has also done the work of bringing radical changes in the system. He said that the present government has done the task of creating a civilized society by living up to the expectations of the people.

Sh. Manohar Lal said that on the occasion of Good Governance Day on December 25, 2014, the CM Window programme was started, under which more than 13 lakh problems have been solved so far. He said that during the last 8 years, employment opportunities were also provided to the youth in the private sector and more than one lakh government jobs were provided; which is one-and-a-half times more than during the tenure of the opposition.

“Besides working in the field of higher education on a large scale, arrangements are also being made for skill development. Also, placements are  being given to the youth with MoU through Skill University. For graduate youth, Rs 9,000 per month including allowance of Rs 3,000 and honorarium of Rs 6,000 per month for 100 hours of work is being given. This facility has been provided to one lakh youths under Saksham Yojana,” he said.

The Chief Minister further said that the data of every family is being collected through Parivar Pehchan Patra (PPP). Also, necessary steps are being taken to curb drug menace in the state and the culprits would not be allowed to flourish under any circumstances, he added.

On e-tendering system, the Chief Minister said that whenever a new method is used, it is definitely opposed. “There was opposition to GST when it was implemented in the state. Now some people are opposing e-tendering. Even before this, works are being done in other departments only through e-tendering. It brings transparency in the works. The government has made a scathing attack on corruption,” he added.

Save water campaign launched

Sh. Manohar Lal along with Art of Living founder, Sri Sri Ravi Shankar launched the campaign to save water. The Chief Minister said that the main objective of this campaign is to save the last drop of ground water. “The state government has implementerd the ‘Mera Pani, Meri Virasat scheme’, under which an amount of Rs 7,000 per acre is provided to the farmers for growing other crops in place of paddy. So far, the farmers have grown other crops in place of paddy in 1.75 lakh acres of land under this scheme,” he added.

He said that work is also being done to motivate and give benefits to the farmers for setting up 3,000 recharge wells and growing crops with micro irrigation. Apart from this, 200 STPs have been installed to recycle and reuse water, from which 750 cusecs of water has been reused.

He said that this mission will be given full support from the government and will be taken forward. The Chief Minister also launched Water Bank Card Ticket during the programme. Rajya Sabha MP, Sh. Kartikeya Sharma was also present on this occasion.
