Chandigarh, March 5 - Haryana Chief Minister, Sh. Manohar Lal today unveiled a 7-feet high statue of Architect of Indian Constitution, Dr. Bhimrao Ambedkar in the premises of Haryana Vidhan Sabha.

On this occasion, the Vidhan Sabha Speaker, Sh. Gian Chand Gupta, Deputy Speaker, Sh. Ranbir Gangwa, all the ministers of the state and the legislator of all parties were present. During this time, all the leaders and Chief Minister raised slogans of 'Baba Saheb Ambedkar Amar Rahe' and 'Bharat Mata Ki Jai'. The Chief Minister said that setting up the statue of Baba Saheb in the Vidhan Sabha is a crucial decision in the history of Haryana Vidhan Sabha. He expressed happiness that MLAs of all the parties were present on this occasion.

Speaking on the contributions of Baba Saheb the Chief Minister said that Baba Saheb is the Architect of the Constitution of India on the basis of which our country is functioning smoothly. Besides this, Baba Saheb gave equal rights to everyone and he was the real son of Bharat Mata.

The Chief Minister said that everyone should follow the path shown by Baba Saheb Ambedkar. On this occasion, Vidhan Sabha Speaker, Sh. Gian Chand Gupta reiterated that Baba Saheb Bhimrao Ambedkar was the Architect of the Constitution of India. Elaborating on it, Sh. Gian Chand Gupta said that the idea of setting up the statue of Dr. Bhim Rao Ambedkar had been in his mind since a long time and finally the auspicious day has come.

He said that this statue will be a source of inspiration for the MLAs entering the Vidhan Sabha to move forward ensuring the dignity of the Constitution of India.

Apart from several Ministers of Haryana, Congress legislators namely Smt. Geeta Bhukkal, Sh. Aftab Ahmed, Sh. Shakuntala Khatak, Inependent Candidate, Sh. Dharmapal Gonder etc. were present on the occasion.

 

Baba Saheb's statue is made of copper

 

The seven-foot high statue of Baba Saheb set up in Haryana is made of copper metal. Weighing 400-kg it took one month time to the artists to build it. Besides this, seven portraits including that of first Prime Minister of the country, Sh. Jawaharlal Nehru, former President Dr. Abdul Kalam, former Prime Minister Sh. Atal Bihari Vajpayee, Swami Vivekananda, former Prime Minister Sh. Atal Bihari Vajpayee, Swami Vivekananda etc have been put up in this gallery. A 3-D picture of the Vidhan Sabha has also been displayed there. The statue has been developed under the supervision of Dr. Vishal Bhatnagar of Le Corbusier Art Gallery and team of Haryana PWD (B & R) Department.
