Chandigarh, May 1– Haryana Chief Minister, Sh. Manohar Lal paid homage while unveiling the statue of Martyr Madanlal Dhingra at Shaheed Madanlal Dhingra Community Centre on Bahalgarh Road in Sonipat. He said that it is a moment of pride for all.

Shaheed Madanlal Dhingra had created history as a revolutionary, which is exemplary for today's youth. Martyr Madanlal gave the message that if we have our nation then we have everything, otherwise we have nothing.

Chief Minister, Sh. Manohar Lal further said that those who will come to pay homage to the statue of Martyr Madanlal Dhingra will surely want to know him, thus, the story of his sacrifice would leave an imprint on every ones’ mind. He said that an ideal society is the one that immortalizes its martyrs. He added that we should contribute in the strengthening of the nation by taking inspiration from these martyrs. He elaborated that by taking inspiration from the martyr we should learn to live for the country. If we have our nation then we have everything, otherwise there is nothing, he reiterated. Sh Manohar Lal said that Prime Minister, Sh. Narendra Modi has made many announcements for honouring the martyrs and to instill patriotism in people. One such announcement is that the birth anniversary of Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose will be celebrated as Parakaram Diwas. Also, the martyrdom day of the sons of Guru Gobind Singh will be celebrated every year on December 26 as Bal Veer Diwas.

The Chief Minister said that the country's freedom has to be protected. He elaborated that the State of Haryana has a major percentage of youth in the armed forces. This feeling of patriotism has to be ignited among people and sustained as well. While paying homage to the martyrdom of Martyr Madanlal Dhingra, he said that about a hundred years ago, revolutionary youth Madanlal had sacrificed his life for the country. The nation was fighting for its freedom and he played an exceptional role in igniting the flame for freedom struggle. A 22-year-old Madanlal was highly motivated after hearing the speech of Lala Lajpat Rai. After the slavery the nation had undergone during the Mughal rule, the second slavery had started, due to which the people were ready to sacrifice everything in order to be set free.

 He also said that today it is a  moment of pride that the statue of Martyr Madanlal Dhingra has been set up, who had sacrificed his life in the freedom struggle of the country by shooting Colonel Wyllie at India House, London. The British were so scared of him that he was hanged within 46 days of pronouncing his death sentence. Madanlal smiled while he was being hanged and said that the name of that country becomes immortal whose people die for their country. If he has to be hanged even 100 times to break the chains of slavery of Mother India, he will be ready.

The Chief Minister said that the Municipal Corporation has given land for this project at the rate of Re 1 per yard and the Corporation has spent about Rs 1.5 crore for the construction of the building. They have also donated an amount of Rs 21 lakh and MP Ramesh Kaushik has given an amount of Rs 21 lakh as well. Thus, an assistance of Rs. 1.92 crore has been given by the government. The Chief Minister shared that the government is moving forward to promote the ideology of social work, which will further propel people to come forward and do social service. Thus, the more the society collects, the more the government will give. Due to this, the government will render assistance again if the society contributes as much as the government has given.

On this occasion, MP Ramesh Kaushik while paying floral tributes at the statue of Martyr Madanlal Dhingra said that Chief Minister, Sh. Manohar Lal is known for working for the society while ensuring everyone is sailing on the same boat. He also expressed gratitude to the Chief Minister for initiating the work of rejuvenation of the ponds.

On this occasion, MLA Mohan Lal Badoli, MLA Nirmal Chaudhary, former minister Kavita Jain, Deputy Commissioner Lalit Siwach and Superintendent of Police Himanshu Garg and other dignitaries and officials were present.
