Chandigarh, May 11 – Taking his vision of ‘Swasth Haryana’ a step further, Haryana Chief Minister today inaugurated 46 health institutions in 17 districts including 275 bedded Mukand Lal District Civil Hospital at Yamunanagar during the state-level programme to be organized at Yamunanagar.

Besides this, while giving precedence to making those suffering from rare diseases financially strong, Sh. Manohar Lal announced monthly pension assistance of Rs 2750 per month to patients suffering from 55 rare diseases like Pompe Disease, Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy (DMD) and Spinal Muscular Atrophy (SMA) etc.

Notably, presently, the state government is giving pension benefits to thalassemia, hemophilia, stage-III, and IV cancer patients. However, after today’s announcement 55 rare diseases have also been added to this list and the government has made a budget provision of Rs 25 crore to provide the announced financial assistance.

On this occasion, Home and Health Minister, Sh. Anil Vij, School Education Minister, Sh. Kanwar Pal and MLA, Sh. Ghanshyam Arora and other dignitaries were present.

8000 patients to get announced financial benefits

Meanwhile, with this announcement, around 8000 patients will be able to get the financial benefits. Divulging the data about such patients available with the Government, Sh. Manohar Lal informed that there are 3000 patients suffering from Thalassemia and Hemophilia, 4000 stage-III, IV cancer patients and about 1000 patients suffering from 55 other rare diseases, who will now receive the pension.

“These inaugurations and the financial assistance announced for the patients would certainly play a pivotal role in further strengthening the health infrastructure along with providing the best health care facilities to every citizen,” said Sh. Manohar Lal.

Yamunanagar gets 275 bedded Mukand Lal District Civil Hospital

With the State Government giving priority to public healthcare, the Chief Minister inaugurated the 275 bedded Mukand Lal District Civil Hospital in Yamunanagar constructed at a cost of Rs. 100 crore. Besides this, he also inaugurated health institutions in Bhiwani, Karnal, Fatehabad, Rohtak, Kaithal, Faridabad, Palwal, Sirsa, Panchkula, Nuh, Charkhi Dadri, Jind, Yamunanagar, Hisar, Gurugram, Narnaul and Kurukshetra.

These inauguration lists include 1 District Civil Hospital, 2 Sub-Divisional Civil Hospitals, 3 Community Health Centres, 1 Urban Health Centre, 1 Mother and Child Hospital, 8 Primary Health Centres, 15 Health and Welfare Centres and 15 Sub Health Centres.

“Time and again the present State Government has given a lot of emphasis on strengthening the healthcare system in the state.  Along with increasing the budget for the health sector every year, with several patient-friendly and people-friendly initiatives to fortify the healthcare sector, we have ensured that everyone should get state-of-the-art facilities at affordable prices. Not only this, special attention is being paid towards increasing the number of doctors,” said Sh. Manohar Lal.

The Chief Minister said that according to the WHO norms, the strength of doctors in Haryana should be 28,000, but at present the strength is 13,000 including government and private.

“When our government was formed in 2014, the number of MBBS seats in Haryana was only 750. With the opening of new medical colleges, now these seats have become 1900. Also, now 7 medical colleges are either under construction or have been announced. After their construction, the number of MBBS will increase to more than 3000. Besides this, the strength of paramedical staff and nursing staff is also being increased,” said Sh. Manohar Lal.

The Chief Minister said that soon a new medical college and an Ayurvedic college would also be constructed in Panchkula. Apart from this, all the land process has been completed for the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) to be built in Bhalkhi-Majra, Rewari. Its foundation stone will be laid soon, he informed.

29.5 lakh families in Haryana getting benefits under Ayushman Bharat and CHIRAYU Haryana

The Chief Minister said that Prime Minister, Sh. Narendra Modi has implemented the Ayushman Yojana, under which poor and needy families get a health insurance facility of Rs. 5 lakh. About 15.5 lakh families in Haryana have received benefits under this scheme.

“However, extending the scope of this scheme, we have implemented CHIRAYU Haryana Yojana. Today, about 29.5 lakh families of the state are getting benefits of this scheme. Apart from this, Nirogi Haryana Yojana has also been made to provide health check-ups for citizens. Under this, 25 types of tests are done. So far, about 2 lakh citizens have been tested. Our target is to cover 1.25 crore population,” asserted Sh. Manohar Lal.

The Chief Minister said that in a bid to ensure that every citizen remains hale and hearty, Ayurveda wellness centres are being opened in villages.

“With this, 1000 yoga teachers have been appointed. Appointments of dieticians will also be made so as to make the citizens aware of the benefits of a healthy and balanced diet. These efforts of the government are in line with the Prime Minister, Sh. Narendra Modi‘s vision of creating a clean environment to live a healthy life” said Sh.  Manohar Lal.

Earlier, speaking on the occasion, the Home and Health Minister said that the inauguration of 46 health institutions in a single day by the Chief Minister clearly shows the present state government’s commitment to providing the best health care facilities to its citizens.

Lauding the Manohar Lal-led government, the Sh. Anil Vij said, under the leadership of Chief Minister, Sh. Manohar Lal, radical changes have been brought in the health department.

He said that there was a time when government hospitals did not even have X-ray machines, but today our government has ensured the availability of X-ray, ultrasound and MRI machines in all district hospitals. Apart from this, 4 cath labs are also running in the state, informed Sh. Anil Vij.

162 old PHC will be renovated, HM

The Health Minister informed that the officers of the health department have been directed to start the renovation of old PHCs in the state. About 162 PHCs have been identified, which will be demolished and made new. Apart from this, ECG and X-ray machines will be made available up to the PHC level, so that good health facilities can be provided to the people, he added.
