Chandigarh, May 30: For 16-year-old Vishal, an orphaned child with special needs May 30, 2021, will always be remembered as one of the happiest days of his life as on this day only he got Haryana Government as his new guardian.
The 16-year-old Vishal who is from Faridabad had unfortunately lost his adoptive parents to COVID-19 leaving him orphaned again.
While today Haryana Chief Minister, Sh. Manohar Lal, on his way from Chandigarh to Delhi suddenly stopped at Deep Ashram to meet the children residing there and it was then that he met Vishal and was apprised that Vishal who was orphaned since birth has now unfortunately even lost her adoptive parents too due to COVID-19. Moved by his story, the Chief Minister immediately announced to adopt him on behalf of the government and said that the State government would bear all the expenses of his upbringing and care.
On this occasion, the Chief Minister also met other children with special needs who are living in the Ashram and are receiving special education. During his visit, the Chief Minister shared that taking a significant step towards securing the future of such children who have lost both parents to COVID-19 Mukhyamantri Bal Sewa Yojana had been announced for giving a package of relief measures to such children.
He said that even Prime Minister Sh. Narendra Modi has also announced a financial package to be given through PM Cares Fund for securing the future and better upbringing of such children till the age of 23.
The Chief Minister said that today is also the service day of the Bharatiya Janata Party, so his party workers had informed him about this child Vishal, who is mentally and physically challenged and is visually impaired and had lost both his adoptive parents to COVID-19.
He appreciated the management of Deepashram Sanstha and said that Haryana Government will also help such institutions and ashrams so that there is no difficulty in raising such children.
Late Jaipal and Jagwanti, residents of Faridabad had no children and had adopted Vishal but unfortunately, on May 14, Jaipal lost his life due to COVID and within just one week that is on May 21, 2021, even Jagwanti, Vishal's mother also lost her life due to the deadly virus, leaving Vishal orphaned again.
It was then when Vishal was shifted to Deep Ashram from Faridabad after seeking online approval from the Child Welfare Council.
Father Shaji, Incharge of Deep Ashram, Media Advisor to Chief Minister, Sh. Amit Arya, Police Commissioner K. K Rao were also present on the occasion.
