Chandigarh, November, 19 - Haryana Chief Minister, Sh. Manohar Lal while chairng a meeting with representatives of Swami Omanand Sarswati Puratattva Sangrahalya Samiti Gurukul Jhajjar today accorded approval to the proposal for giving HSVP land to the Gurukul for the construction of the said museum.
The meeting was attended by Acharya Vijay Pal, Sh. Virjanand Devkarni of Swami Omanand Sarswati Puratattva Sangrahalya Samiti Gurukul, Jhajjar.
In the museum, a huge collection of about 2 lakh antiquities, preserved by Swami Omanand would be displayed.
The Gurukul Jhajjar Archeological Museum is a place of pride for the town. It is the biggest museum in Haryana. The committed and passionate effort of Swami Omanand Saraswati in collecting antiques from various parts of the country brought this museum into being in 1959.
The existing Museum has a unique and incomparable collection of rare coins. terracottas, sculptures, manuscripts etc. These antiquities have been collected from all over the world by the Gurukul Jhajjar during the last several decades and thus the State Govemment while realising the need to preserve and protect this national treasure for posterity as it showcases the unique heritage of the country has decided to construct a new museum.
Principal Secretary, Town and Country Planning and Urban Estates Department, Sh. A. K. Singh, Chief Administrator, Haryana Shehri Vikas Pradhikaran, Panchkula, Sh. Ajit Balaji Joshi also remained present on this occasion.
