Chandigarh, October 6 – Due to the consistent efforts being made by the Haryana Government for promoting girl education, today girls in the State are not only getting quality school education but they are also moving ahead in the field of technical and higher education. The Haryana Chief Minister, Sh. Manohar Lal interacted with girl students of the State who have been selected for Pragati Scholarship by the All India Council for Technical Education, through video conferencing here today.
On this occasion, the Chief Minister said that it is a matter of pride that 280 girl students have been selected from Haryana for Pragati Scholarship and 19 students for Saksham Scholarships under the scholarship scheme launched by All India Council for Technical Education. Scholarship at the rate of Rs. 50,000 per annum per student is provided in this scheme.
He said that the All India Council for Technical Education has done commendable work by running the Pragati and Saksham Scholarship Scheme in order to promote Technical Education. The Chief Minister said that these schemes will motivate girls and differently-abled students to move ahead in Technical Education.
Sh. Manohar Lal said that according to the new National Education Policy, engineering courses are being started in Hindi language in Technical Universities of Haryana from this session onwards with the aim of imparting technical education in regional languages.
While interacting directly with the students, the Chief Minister said that in 1971, when he received annual scholarship of Rs. 480 for two years, he realized that the scholarship was meant to bring a revolutionary change in the direction of providing education. In present scenario also scholarship is bringing about an impactful change in the lives of the students.
The Chief Minister said that the present State Government has made adequate arrangements for the education of girls and differently-abled students in the State. The schemes of the State Government have always been focused on Antyodaya Darshan. He said that it is the endeavour of the Haryana Government that no student should be deprived of education due to lack of funds, for which the State Government is providing various types of scholarships to the students.
Sh. Manohar Lal said that along with education, inclusive development of the student is also very important. In view of this, the Skill Development Mission was established as per the vision of Prime Minister, Sh. Narendra Modi and Haryana is the first State in the country which has established Skill University. Under this, thousands of youth are being made employable through imparting various skill development courses.
The Chief Minister said that a provision has also been made to give Rs. 1500 as financial assistance under 'Mukhyamantri Bal Sewa Yojana' to the destitute girls due to Corona.
Facilities for Specially abled Students
The Chief Minister said that the Haryana Government has taken steps for the welfare of every section of the society. The state government is making special efforts towards the upliftment and rehabilitation of the specially abled students so that they can join the main stream of the society by becoming socially, economically, educationally and physically capable.
He said that under the Mukhyamantri Bal Sewa Yojana launched for the rehabilitation and assistance of children orphaned due to Covid, Rs. 1500 per month is given to the disabled child for education. Apart from this, scholarships are given to the differently-abled students according to their disability.
Chairman, All India Council for Technical Education, Dr. Anil Sahasrabudhe said that till two years ago, only three or four students from Haryana were selected for these scholarships, but today 280 and 19 students are selected for the promotion of education by the Haryana Government. It is the result of the continuous efforts by the Government and further efforts will be made towards increasing the number of students in future. He said that the Pragati Scholarship started by the Council is only to promote girl students in technical education. Similarly, Saksham Scholarship has been started to provide financial assistance to specially-abled students. Under both these scholarship schemes, an annual scholarship of Rs. 50,000 is provided to the students.
During the interaction programme, Srishti, Suhawana, Bhoomika, Tanu, Sakshi selected in the Pragati Scholarship Scheme and Vikram selected in the Saksham Scholarship Scheme expressed gratitude towards the Chief Minister, Sh. Manohar Lal and the All India Council for Technical Education.
On this occasion, Principal Secretary, Technical Education Department, Sh. Anand Mohan Sharan, Additional Principal Secretary to Chief Minister and Director General, Information, Public Relations and Languages Department, Dr. Amit Agrawal and other officers were present.
