Chandigarh, May 8: As per the commitment made by Haryana Chief Minister, Mr. Manohar Lal, the migrant labourers keen on returning will be sent to their home states free of cost by the State Government within the next 7 days through 5,000 buses and 100 trains. The entire expenditure on their transportation will be borne by the State Government.
While stating this here today, an official spokesman said that while the migrant labourers to Bihar, Jharkhand, Madhya Pradesh and Eastern Uttar Pradesh will be sent through 100 Special Shramik Trains, such labourers belonging to Western Uttar Pradesh, Rajasthan, Himachal Pradesh, Punjab and Uttarakhand will be sent by 5,000 buses.
He said that after the announcement made by Chief Minister, Mr. Manohar Lal that every stranded migrant labourer will be sent to their home states, 23,452 such labourers have so far been sent to their home states free of cost by various trains and buses arranged by the State Government.
He said that 13,347 migrant labourers have been sent to Uttar Pradesh whereas 3,133 migrant labourers have been sent to Uttarakhand and 3,593 migrant labourers to Bihar.
Similarly, 2,549 migrant labourers have been sent to Madhya Pradesh, 435 migrant labourers to Rajasthan, 221 migrant labourers to Punjab, 54 migrant labourers to Himachal Pradesh, 46 migrant labourers to Kerala, 32 migrant labourers to Assam, 23 migrant labourers to Maharashtra and 19 migrant labourers to Gujarat.
