Gurugram, May 18- The Metro connectivity project from Palam Vihar in Gurugram to Dwarka Sector-21 in Delhi was discussed under the Chairmanship of Haryana Chief Minister, Sh. Manohar Lal today. During this, the Chief Minister directed to conduct a study for laying underground line in the last one and a half kilometer distance in Delhi and to report in 15 days. After that the final detailed project report will be prepared.
The Chief Minister said that the people of West Delhi and Gurugram would be greatly benefited by the laying of the proposed metro line from Palam Vihar to Sector-21 Dwarka. The number of passengers on this route is expected to be very high.
It was informed in the meeting that there is a plan to expand the metro network in Gurugram by adding a line of 37 km length. Out of this, the project of laying a metro line of about 28.5 km length from HUDA City Center Metro Station to Cyber City via Old Gurugram is under consideration of the Government of India, which is in the final stage of approval. Apart from this, a proposal has been prepared for laying a line of about 8.4 km length from Palam Vihar to Sector-21 of Delhi, which has been discussed today. After the approval of this new proposed line, a large part of Gurugram will be connected by metro.
This proposed new metro route will connect with DMRC's Blue Line. It will have total 7 stations. In these, 4 stations are proposed to be built along the boundary of Gurugram district and 3 stations in Delhi region. These will have two interchange stations - Palam Vihar station and Dwarka Sector-21 station. Project related power point presentation was given by RITES officials regarding the project. The project will be implemented by Haryana Mass Rapid Transport Corporation (HMRTC).
It was informed during the meeting that the proposal for this metro link was prepared for the first time in November 2019. In April 2020, Haryana Mass Rapid Transport Corporation (HMRTC) was asked to study the technical feasibility. Its draft DPR was prepared on May 8, 2020 and the final DPR was submitted on April 11 this year, which was discussed in detail today.
It was informed in the meeting that this proposed metro route will be 8.4 km long, out of which 4 km, from Palam Vihar to Sector-111 will fall within the boundary of Gurugram district while 4.4 km from Sector-111 to Dwarka Sector-21 of Delhi will fall within the border of Delhi.
This proposed metro corridor will have seven stations, out of which four stations will be built in the limits of Gurugram district and three stations will be built in the Delhi region. The stations proposed to be built in Gurugram are Rezang La Chowk, Choma, Sector 110 and Sector 111, while in Delhi region these stations include - Dwarka Sector-28, India International Convention and Expo Center (IICC) in Dwarka Sector-25 and Dwarka Sector -21. This route will have two interchange stations. Palam Vihar will have an interchange with the proposed Gurgaon Metro Corridor (HUDA City Center to Cyber City) and Dwarka Sector-21, which will be separate from the existing DMRC station, will have an interchange with the Blue Line as well as the Airport Express Corridor. An amount of about Rs 2281 crore will be spent on the construction of this project.
On this occasion, Chief Principal Secretary to Chief Minister, Sh. DS Dhesi, Principal Secretary to Chief Minister, Sh. V Umashankar and other officers of the concerned departments were present. Haryana Chief Secretary, Sh. Sanjeev Kaushal and other officers joined the meeting virtually from Chandigarh as well.
