  • Chandigarh, Mar 17 –The Haryana Chief Minister, Mr. Manohar Lal,  said today that the Ayushman Bharat Yojana of the Central Government would be expanded in the state to bring the dependents of journalists under the ambit of health services.
  • Besides, Journalists Accreditation Committee would be constituted and tours would be arranged for journalists to the International Traders Mela in New Delhi, Gita Jayanti Festival at Kurukshetra, and Surajkund International Crafts Mela at Faridabad.
  • Making these announcements at the annual session of Haryana Union of Journalists, in Rohtak, the Chief Minister said that on the initiative of the Prime Minister, Mr. Narendra Modi, Ayushman Bharat Yojana was launched to provide health insurance cover of up to Rs 5 lakh to poor families. After amending the eligibility conditions, the Yojana would be implemented for everyone in Haryana.
  • Eligibility has been made in three different categories. Those who would pay their own premium would fall in first category; the second category would be for the community which would have to pay less premium. Under the third category, premium would be sahred on 50:50 basis by the organisation and the government. Journalist organisations have been raising the demand for a long time to give medical cover to their dependents.
  • Regarding fulfilling various other demands of journalists, the Chief Minister said a meeting of senior officers of the state government and representatives of journalists’ organisations would soon be held in Chandigarh. “I do not believe in making announcements. I believe in fulfilling whatever I have said”, he added.
  • Apart from introducing pension scheme for journalists, Rs 10 lakh has been released for establishing media centre equipped with ultra-modern facilities in each district.
  • Defining journalism as a mission, not a business, the Chief Minister said before Independence, the mission of journalism was to get independence for the country. Journalists should concentrate on  positive news.
  • On this occasion, the Chief Minister announced to give financial assistance of Rs 5 lakh out of his discretionary funds to the Haryana Union of Journalists.
  • Describing journalism as a tough job, the Minister of State for Cooperation, Mr. Manish Kumar Grover, said raising issues pertaining to the society and the country was a challenging task. 
  • Later after inaugurating the community centre named after Martyr Madan Lal Dhingra and unveiling his statue at Rohtak, the Chief Minister said persons who lived for their country and the society were remembered for centuries. Madan Lal Dhingra had sacrificed his life for the country at the age of 22 years.
  • Mr. Manohar Lal said Rs 7 crore had been spent on the community centre set up over two acres and it had been named after Madan Lal Dhingra to inspire the youth. The old ITI Park adjoining the community centre has been named after Swami Balakpuri Ji, he added.
  • Chandigarh March 17: Committed to promote girl’s education in the State and ensure that they need not to travel far to get quality education, the Haryana Government has decided to grant Change of Land Use (CLU) permission for the setting up of DAV Women University in the revenue estate of village Panjeto, Mukarampur, Chaneta and Mundakhera in tehsil Chhachhrauli, district Yamunanagar. The University would come up over an area measuring 56.79 acres at an estimated cost of Rs 193.04 crore. Interestingly, the request for grant of CLU made by DAV managing Committee had earlier been rejected by the state Government in March 2013.
  • While stating this here, an official spokesman said that Chief Minister, Mr Manohar Lal has approved a proposal in this regard. He said that located in the vicinity of the twin cities of Yamunanagar and Jagadhari, the University would primarily cater to the needs of about five lakh populations residing in the twin cities.
  • He said that the applicant would have to submit an amount of over Rs 1.37 crores on account of conversion charges at the rate of Rs 60 per square meter besides submitting an undertaking that the External Development Charges (EDC) would be paid as and when site comes within urbanizable limit. The applicant would also submit an undertaking not to raise any construction on the land falling within proposed road widening and 45 meter wide green belt proposed along NH-907 and also not object acquisition of the same in near future. An undertaking would also be submitted by the applicant not to raise any construction in Right of Way (ROW) of High Tension (HT) lines passing through the site, he added.
  • Chandigarh March 17: Haryana Chief Minister, Mr Manohar Lal has given his approval for the creation of six new police stations in district Jhajjar for further strengthening the law and order situation and effectively deal with crime in the district.
  • While stating this here, an official spokesman said that initially these new police stations have been sanctioned for a period of five years during which, the staff would be provided from the existing strength of district police.
  • He said that these police stations included Police Station Machhroli, Police Station City Jhajjar, Police Station Asauda, Police Station Dujana, Police Station Sector-6 Bahadurgarh and Police Station Badli. He said that these new police stations in district Jhajjar assumes special significance owing to the growing urbanization and its proximity to Delhi and Gurugram. Besides, it would also help in ensuring widespread patrolling and to hold special nakabandi at strategic or selected points, he added.
