Chandigarh, October 2- Haryana Chief Minister, Mr. Manohar Lal has called upon the faculty members of Shri Vishwakarma Skill University, Dhudhola (Palwal) to identify the academically weak students and help them develop their skills according to their ability and make them self-reliant.

The Chief Minister said this while addressing the First Vishwakarma National Skill Excellence Award-2020 distribution ceremony of Shri Vishwakarma Skill University through video conferencing today.

Mr. Manohar Lal said that teachers leave their impression on student’s life by improving and grooming them with their teaching methods. Students can never forget the impressions left by their teachers throughout their lives, he added.

The Chief Minister while paying homage to the Father of the Nation, Mahatma Gandhi and the second Prime Minister of the country, Mr. Lal Bahadur Shastri on their birth anniversary said that both the great men had made significant contribution in the development and progress of the nation. The Father of the Nation, Mahatma Gandhi had shown the path of non-violence to the world by following the principle of ‘Ahimsa Paramo Dharma’. On the other hand, Mr. Lt. Lal Bahadur Shastri had given the slogan of 'Jai Jawan-Jai Kisan' to make the country self-reliant in the matter of food production while securing the borders of the country as well.

Mr. Manohar Lal said that to make Prime Minister, Mr. Narendra Modi's ‘Aatmanirbhar Bharat’ campaign truly successful, quality and employment-oriented education should be imparted to the youth so that their skills can be developed. He appreciated the efforts being made by Vice Chancellor, Shri Vishwakarma Skill University, Mr. Raj Nehru, and Chairman, Haryana State Higher Education Council, Prof. (Dr.) B.K. Kuthiala in the implementation of the new National Education Policy -2020. He said that in the new education policy, provision has been made to choose the option of skill development from the sixth grade itself, which will play an important role in making the student self-reliant in future.

The Chief Minister called upon the teachers to adopt the principle of 'Antyodaya' on the lines of 'Zero Association' formed by Pt. Deendayal Upadhyaya to help the academically weak students and identify the poor, weak, deprived as well as the students so as to help them grow.

On this occasion, The Chief Minister honoured seven individuals and institutions with the Platinum, Gold and Silver awards of the First Vishwakarma National Skill Excellence Award-2020. Awardees were given Rs 21000, Rs 15000 and Rs 10,000 and certificate of excellence. In the Teacher category, Assistant Professor, Delhi Institute of Tool Engineering, Dr. Charu Gaur was honoured with Silver Award and Dr. Manish Sharma of Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam Technical University, Lucknow was honoured with Gold Award.

While in the Training category, Ms. Inok Navitam of Nettur Technical Training Foundation, Dharwad, Karnataka and Arpana P. Atma Vishishtha of Electronics City, Bangalore were awarded with Platinum Award.

Similarly, Dr. Pratap Chauhan of Jiva Ayurveda, Faridabad was awarded the Silver Award, Management & Entrepreneurship and Professional Skills Council (MEPSC), New Delhi with Gold Award and Mr. Pawan Munjal of Hero MotoCorp, Dharuhera with the Platinum Award in the Institutional category.

Vice Chancellor, Shri Vishwakarma Skill University, Mr. Raj Nehru in his welcome address said that the university is offering diploma, Under-graduation and Post-graduation degree in more than 35 courses with more than 1200 students studying them. The university has tie-ups with over 150 companies. Apart from this, the emphasis is also laid on education and skill development as well as on innovation.

Chairman, Haryana State Higher Education Council, Prof. (Dr.) B.K. Kuthiala apprised the Chief Minister about the steps being taken by the Council in the implementation of the new National Education Policy-2020.

On this occasion, Principal Secretary to the Chief Minister, Mr. Rajesh Khullar, Dean of the University, Dr. Jyoti Rana, Professor R.S. Rathore were also present.
