- Chandigarh, May 14—The Haryana Chief Minister, Mr Manohar Lal, who is leading a high-level delegation to UK, today met leaders from Leeds City Region and key business people to explore the possibilities of a bilateral collaboration arrangement between Haryana and Leeds City Region. Later, he visited Advanced Manufacturing Park, Sheffield, and met captains of industry.
- He discussed avenues for collaboration in the areas of manufacturing, particularly SMEs, aerospace and defence, industrial corridors, agri-processing with top company representatives in the Leeds region, including Leeds City Council CEO, Mr Tom Riordan, who were present at the meeting.
- The meeting was arranged and facilitated by Yorkshire Asian Business Association which will play a crucial role in Britain’s attempts to establish a ‘living bridge’ partnership, a term used by the Prime Minister, Mr Narendra Modi. Mr Manohar Lal invited business persons to set up enterprises in Haryana and assured them of complete government support.
- The Chief Minister also went around the Advanced Manufacturing Park Sheffield. Top companies like Boeing, Mclaren, etc. operate out of this region, and the park provides all support to the manufacturing units in terms of technology and other related inputs. He also met YABA Sheffield Team.
- Top government representatives, academicians and enterprises working in the Advance Manufacturing Park were present. Mr Manohar Lal told them that Haryana was in the process of developing an aviation hub at Hisar where an aerospace cluster would be created with the support of the Advanced Manufacturing Park Sheffield.
- Chandigarh, May 14-The Haryana Chief Minister, Mr Manohar Lal, has designated Mr T L Satyaprakash, MD, HSIIDC, as the Nodal Officer for taking forward the Haryana Leeds Gateway initiative for all intents and purposes.
- Making this announcement while participating in an interactive session with potential investors at Leeds in UK, today, the Chief Minister asked industry and investors to come and invest in Haryana. The state offers great investment opportunities in the areas of engineering, aerospace, defence, Information Technology, industrial townships and indusrial corriodors etc.
- “While I would leave the intricacies of collaborations that would be worked out by my officers, I assure you of full support of my government in this endeavor”, he said.
- “It is indeed my great pleasure to be amongst you today at this roundtable and discuss the proposition of investments and collaborations in the state of Haryana. In fact, I was scheduled to return to India last evening from Glasgow, but Mt T L Satyaprakash, MD, HSIIDC, persuaded me to revise my schedule and visit Leeds to come and meet you, considering the potential opportunities that await us”, the Chief Minister said.
- Thanking YABA for hosting the meet and extending special thanks to Ms. Sharon Jhandu for doing so at short notice, Mr Manohar Lal said, “When you come to us, I announce at this platform that you would not find us wanting in our enthusiasm and vigour to welcome you to Haryana.”
- “I thank you all again for being here with us and look forward to working closely with you. The Chief Secretary has also spoken about the DMIC project and the global city, the MRTS project and the logistics hub”, he added.
- Chandigarh May 14-The Chief Minister, Mr Manohar Lal, who is leading a high-level delegation to the UK to woo investors, has invited Indian diaspora to come and invest in Haryana, and be a part of the growth story of the state.
- Interacting with Indian diaspora in Glasgow today, the Chief Minister lauded the role played by them in UK in building India's positive image overseas, and listed a number of measures taken by his government to make Haryana the place to invest in.
- The participants in the interaction included business persons, doctors, engineers and IT professionals. The Consul General of India in Edinburgh, Mrs. Anju Ranjan, was also present on the occasion.
- Asking those present to come and invest in Haryana, Mr Manohar Lal said committed to facilitating industry, the state government had taken concrete measures to further ease the ease-of-doing business, create infrastructure conducive to the growth of industry, and provide logistics and infrastructural support.
- Listing some of the steps taken to boost industry, he said single-roof system had been implemented under which all necessary clearances for setting up industrial units were provided under one roof within a maximum of 45 days. Beyond 45 days, all clearances are deemed to have been cleared.
- Besides, the government has abolished Inspector Raj and implemented the system of self-certification. For setting up any Rs 5,000-crore project, demand-based facilities are being provided. As a result of the new incentives-laced industrial policy and close proximity the state enjoyed to the international airport in New Delhi, Haryana has emerged as a preferred destination for entrepreneurs, he added.
