Chandigarh December 12: Haryana Chief Minister, Mr Manohar Lal said that the old problems of the country are being vanished gradually and the passing of Citizenship Amendment Bill, 2019 by Rajya Sabha and Lok Sabha is a significant step in this direction. He said that in democracy things change and become history and with the abrogation of Article 370, Pakistan would not be able to interfere in the Jammu and Kashmir.

Mr Manohar Lal was speaking after unveiling the Web Portal of Bar Council of Punjab and Haryana, Chandigarh. On this occasion, he also released the book entitled Nehru’s Himalayan Blunders - The Accession of Jammu and Kashmir authored by Justice S.N. Aggarwal (Retd.) at Law Bhawan here today.

The Chief Minister said that we got independence in the year 1947 after a long struggle and as a result of the sacrifices made by our great leaders and people. Though there was an atmosphere of joy among the people that time but there was a feeling of pain as well and that was of partition of country.

The Chief Minister also commended the efforts of Justice S.N. Aggarwal (Retd.) to write a book on this topic and said that Justice Aggarwal should also come up with another book on how to undo those blunders.

Earlier, speaking on this occasion, Justice of Supreme Court of India Mr Ashok Bhan (Retd.) said that he knows Justice Aggarwal since 1970. He said that Justice Aggarwal is a hardworking , patriotic and has written many books including one on prisoners who were jailed in Andaman and Nicobar Islands.

Justice S.N. Aggarwal (Retd.) said that his book Nehru’s Himalayan Blunders - The Accession of Jammu and Kashmir was based on the mistakes in handling the situation in Jammu and Kashmir. He said that due to non efficient dealing of J&K issue, the country and ourbrave soldiers have been bearing the brunt. He said that the problem created by Pakistan in one way or other agitated his mind. He said that Pakistan not only frequently carry out ceasefire violations but also regularly attacked our soldiers. He said that 472 pages book has 45 chapters and it has been published by Garuda Publication, Gurugram. On this occasion, he also announced that he would donate the Royalty coming from his book to Army Welfare Fund for the welfare of soldiers.

Chairman, Bar Council Chandigarh Mr Harpreet Singh Brar described Justice S.N. Aggarwal (Retd.) as a great legal luminary who has written many books earlier also which are well received. He said that the book Nehru’s Himalayan Blunders - The Accession of Jammu and Kashmir is an masterpiece of Justice Aggarwal.

He said that Web Portal of Bar Council of Punjab and Haryana, Chandigarh would streamline the dispension of services as people need not to visit Chandigarh as they would get facilities like certificates, death claims, medical claims etc. He said that the web portal would connect all the stakeholders including the colleges. It has support of 8 languages including Punjabi and Hindi. He also thanked Chief Minister Mr Manohar Lal saying that he has always been ready to resolve the concern of legal fraternity.
