Chandigarh, April 5 – Haryana Chief Minister, Mr. Manohar Lal, said that school students from Class 1 to Class 8 will be promoted to the next class without examination as the schools are closed due to COVID-19. He also urged the people of the state that there are a few festivals next week and people should celebrate them while staying at home maintaining social distancing.

The Chief Minister, while addressing the people of the state through live telecast said that the examination of Science subject for Class 10 has not been conducted and the result of the students will be declared on the basis of the examination conducted. However, the students who will opt for Science subject their test will be taken when suitable. He further said that the result of the students of Class 9 is ready and will be declared next week. He said that the examination of the Mathematics subject of Class 11 was not conducted. Thus, the students of Class11 will be promoted to Class 12 and the examination of Maths subject will be conducted later. He said the decision regarding the promotion of Class 12 students has not been taken as yet.

He appealed to the people of the state to maintain social distancing and said that the upcoming week has festivals that should be celebrated by the people while staying at home. He said that nest week festivals like on April 6 it is Mahavir Jayanti we should not meet during this time. Similarly, the festival of shab-e-barat and Hanuman Jayanti falls on April 8and Good Friday is a yearly festival which falls on April 10, Easter Sunday on April 12 we should not get together during this time. The next day, on April 13 it is the festival of Baisakhi and on April 14 Ambedkar Jayanti is celebrated. We should maintain social distancing during these festivals. He said that melas are organized during Baisakhi and we should avoid going out anywhere during this time.

The Chief Minister said that today he wanted to make an appeal to the people of the state as well. He said those who have been tested positive for the Corona Virus have to get admitted to the hospital in quarantine. These people have to practice self-control and follow the instructions of the doctor. He said that there are chances of spread of the virus due to the congregation of Tabligi Jamaat recently. Those who attended it are being tested and I request those who had recently met these people should get themselves tested to prevent its spread further.

The Chief Minister further said that the Prime Minister Mr. Narendra had urged the people to turn off the lights of our houses from 9.00 pm to 9.09 pm. And we should light our house from diyas, torches, mobile lights and through this light, we have to feel that we together as people of the country are united and motivated. He said the spread of COVID-19 has led to a war-like situation in the world and we have to unite together in it and remember the mantra of social distancing. We had also practiced Janta Curfew which was meant to motivate people and had applauded people like, doctors, paramedics, police personnel, sanitation workers, working for us during the crisis situation. This is not for the first time people are being motivated in this manner. During independence, people were motivated by the Father of the Nation, Mahatma Gandhi like the Salt March, using Indian made clothes initiated by him. He said the Corona Virus will be defeated by the united efforts of the state and will move away from India.
