- Chandigarh, May 5 : While giving a major relief to the women members of Self Help Groups (SHGs) set up under the Deen Dayal Antyodya-National Rural Livelihood Mission (NRLM) in the State, Haryana Chief Minister, Mr Manohar Lal announced that the interest on bank loan taken by such SHGs would be borne by the State Government till the income of each member of that group does not reach rupees one lakh per annum. He also announced that three SHGs from each district securing first, second and third positions would be awarded every year with cash prize of Rs one lakh, Rs 50,000 and Rs 25,000 on the basis of their annual income. These announcements would be implemented from today onward, he added.
- Mr Manohar Lal was addressing the State Level function of Aajeevika Evam Kaushal Vikas Diwas organized by Haryana State Rural Livelihood Mission at Panchkula near here today.
- While thanking the members of SHGs for their greetings on his birthday today, the Chief Minister said that Aajeevika Evam Kaushal Vikas is a part of Gram Savraj Yojna implemented in the country for the systematic development of villages. He said that the State government has launched 'Gram Swaraj Abhiyaan' on the occasion of Dr B. R. Ambedkar Jayanti on April 14 which concluded today. During this period, various programmes had been organized at district, block and tehsil level to apprise the people about various welfare schemes of the centre and state governments so that maximum people could get the benefit of same.
- He said that besides the infrastructure development, the State Government has also made efforts towards the intellectual development of people so that they could become self-relient and also fulfill all necessary requirements of their families. It was a matter of pride that lakhs of families in the State are working with the SHGs and also made it part of their livelihood. He said that merely getting degree is not enough and to get employment, skill development is necessary . Keeping this in view, the State Government has set up a Skill Development Mission and also established a Skill Development University, which is the first-of-its-kind university in the country. The University is offering several courses to improve the skill of the youth so as to make them employable.
- While assuring all support and cooperation of the State Government to the SHGs, the Chief Minister said that the State Government has waived off the interest on loan of those SHGs who have repaid loan on time.
- Earlier, speaking on this occasion, Development and Panchayats Minister, Mr O.P Dhankar said that at present the SHGs are working with a turnover of Rs 130 crore and a target has been fixed to increase it to Rs 5000 crore. He exhorted the members of SHGs to learn new skills keeping in view the changing market demand. While laying stress on the need of marketing of products besides the production, he said that the brands of products produced by the SHGs of National Rural Livelihood Mission should be registered. Besides, more crafts melas should be organized in the State so that they could make maximum marketing of their products. He also asked them to produce show-case items as these are more in demand among the people.
- Principal Secretary, Development and Panchayats Department Mr Sudhir Rajpal said that the aim of the National Rural Livelihood Mission is to ensure the skill development of people so that they could become self employed or start their own venture. He said that there are 15,000 women SHGs in the State and our aim is to make them entrepreneurs.
- Vice-Chancellor Haryana Vishwakarma Skill University, Mr Raj Nehru also spoke on this occasion.
- Among those present on this occasion included MLAs namely Mr Gian Chand Gupta and Mrs Latika Sharma, Deputy Commissioner, Panchkula Mr Mukul Kumar and other senior officers of district administration.
- Chandigarh May 5: Haryana Chief Minister, Mr Manohar Lal announced that yoga competition would be organized in the State on the occasion of International Yoga Day on June 21 and the winners of first, second and third positions would be honoured.
- Mr Manohar Lal was addressing the gathering at village Kanouli, Barwala in district Panchkula near here today where he inaugurated 309 parks and vyayamshalas in the State. Education Minister, Mr Ram Bilas Sharma, Development and Panchayats Minister, Mr O.P Dhankar and Industries and Commerce Minister, Mr Vipul Goel were also present on this occasion.
- While congratulating the children, youth and elders of all 309 villages where parks and vyayamshalas has been inaugurated, the Chief Minister said that 1000 vyayamshalas are to be set up in the first phase out of which funds for 750 vyayamshalas has already been released. He said that a provision of 180 yoga trainers have been made for these Vyayamshalas and in the time to come, one yoga trainer each would be deputed in these Vyayamshalas.
- Referring to the famous quotation, a sound mind lives in a sound body; the Chief Minister said that sports and yoga not only ensure our physical development but also the mental development. He urged the people to spare time in morning and evening and perform yoga and other sports activities in these Vyayamshalas as this would not help them remain fit but also kept the diseases at bay. Haryana is known for its Doodth (milk) – Dahi (curd) ka khana. From the ancient times sports activities remained the integral part of life of people of the State but for the last few years, this tradition has been missing. Now, the present State Government has decided to revive this tradition in a new perspective and a conscious decision has been taken to set up vyayamshalas in all villages of the State on two acres of land, he added.
- He exhorted the villagers to constitute a committee of people having keen interest in sports for the maintenance and upkeep of these vyayamshalas. He described Yoga as ancient practice and said as a result of efforts made by Prime Minister, Mr Narendra Modi; Yoga has got recognition at international level. He asked the people to make preparations for the International Yoga Day on June 21 and participate in large numbers. He said that Patanjali is promoting Yoga in the country and the State Government would provide all support and cooperation to Patanjali for promoting Yoga in Haryana also.
- Earlier, speaking on this occasion, Development and Panchayats Minister, Mr O.P Dhankar said that today is the birthday of Chief Minister, Mr Manohar Lal and with the inauguration of 309 parks and vyayamshalas, a new chapter has been added in the history of Haryana. Earlier, there was no common place in the villages for youth for practice but now various facilities including track are being made available in the vyayamshalas .
- Mr Dhankar said that present State Government is the first to provide such facilities to the people in villages. Previous governments just raised walls in the name of stadiums and did not provide any facilities. He said that provision of open zym, track, sports equipment and yoga teacher has been made in these vyayamshalas. He hoped that these vyayamshalas would help producing quality sports persons that would help the State win maximum medals not only in the country but in the world.
- A kabaddi match was also played on this occasion between Lion 12 Black versus Tiger 12 Blue. Lion 12 Black won the match by defeating Tiger 12 Blue by 17-8.
- Later, the Chief Minister inaugurated the office building of Directorate, ITI in sector-3, Panchkula.
- He also visited Shishu Greh in Sector-15 and interacted with the orphan children. He said that a scheme is being prepared by the State Government for the welfare of orphan and destitute children so that they could be provide all necessary facilities.
- Mr Manohar Lal also visited Sarthak School in Sector-12 where he also inaugurated Sarthak Herbal Vatika. While interacting with the students at the Shahar Swaraj Abhiyan (women and swachta) awareness programme organized in the school, the Chief Minister congratulated the schools for gaining more popularity as compared to private schools. He also congratulated school teachers for imparting quality education to its students. He said that the State Government is contemplating to increase the number of Sarthak schools in the State.

- Chandigarh May 5: Haryana Governor, Prof. Kaptan Singh Solanki, has hailed the contribution of women members of Self Help Groups (SHGs) set up under the Deen Dayal Antyodya-National Rural Livelihood Mission (NRLM) in the economic development of the State and said that their participation in huge numbers today is a clear indicator of the fact that the present State Government has ensured the women empowerment in the State in a real manner.
- Prof Solanki was addressing the State Level function of Aajeevika Evam Kaushal Vikas Diwas organized by Haryana State Rural Livelihood Mission at Panchkula near here today. Chief Minister, Mr Manohar Lal and Development and Panchayats Minister, Mr O.P Dhankar were also present on this occasion. He also greeted Mr Manohar Lal on his birthday today.
- The Governor said that the Central Government has set up National Rural Livelihood Mission to make the people self-dependent and ensure that no person in the country remain dependent on other. Apart from this, the Central Government has also set up a separate department of skill development. Following the footsteps of the Centre, the Haryana Government has not only set up a Skill Development Mission but also opened a Skill Development University.
