Chandigarh 22- Haryana Chief Minister, Mr. Manohar Lal today directed the District Food and Supplies Controller (DFSCs) to expedite the process of distribution of Distress Ration Token (DRT) to the remaining eligible beneficiaries and ensure that they get the free ration from the Fair Prices Shops without any hassle. At present, 4,86,124 DRTs have so far been distributed and 12,90,847 persons have been benefitted by this scheme in the State.
The Chief Minister was presiding over a meeting of the Food, Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs Department through video Conferencing here today. Deputy Chief Minister, Mr. Dushyant Chautala who also holds the portfolio of Food, Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs Department also attended the meeting through video conferencing.
He said that though the entitled ration card holders in the State are getting double ration for the month of April, May and June, there are many migrant families who do not have ration cards. To ensure that such families do not get deprived of food, as committed by him, the State Government has made an arrangement of providing them ration through DRTs. He said that first for the first time; Local Committees have been formed to distribute DRTs the eligible beneficiaries. He said that the scheme is now a part of the Atma Nirbhar Bharat Scheme of the Government of India. While directing the DFSCs to be more sensitive towards the poor people while issuing DRTs, he said that Haryana has been in the forefront among all states of the country in taking various measures to provide immediate relief to the affected people during the COVID-19 crisis.
Mr. Manohar Lal said that as adequate stock of ration has been made available at the ration depots, the DFSCs would ensure that who-so-ever visit the ration depot with the DRTs get ration without any inconvenience. The Chief Minister said that he has already committed that no poor in the State would sleep hungry.
