Chandigarh, January 5: Haryana Chief Minister, Mr. Manohar Lal today launched Jan Jagran Abhiyan in Deendayal Upadhyay Nagar,Jalandhar (Punjab) in support of the Citizenship Amendment Act 2019. He interacted with 30 to 40 refugee families there and gave them pamphlets at their residence. On this occasion, the residents of the city gave a warm welcome to the Chief Minister and thanked the Prime Minister, Mr. Narendra Modi for Citizens Amendment Act.
Mr. Manohar Lal interacted with the refugees who arrived in India from Pakistan, Bangladesh and Afghanistan at Hotel Red Petal, Jalandhar.
Dayal Lal informed the Chief Minister that he had come to India in 1989 and said that in Pakistan, minorities have to endure a lot of atrocities and suffering. Similarly, Lal Chand said that Hindu girls are converted there and are married in the Muslim community.
The Chief Minister said that Citizenship Amendment Act has opened the way for the oppressed people of neighboring countries Pakistan, Bangladesh and Afghanistan to get citizenship. Under this act, people coming from Pakistan and Afghanistan belonging to minority communities there will now be able to get citizenship and live a happy life.
The Chief Minister said that minorities living in Pakistan, Bangladesh and Afghanistan are tortured, but there are no atrocities on any minorities in India, all are free as well as safe.
Mr. Manohar Lal said that the Citizenship Amendment Act, 2019 was passed in the Parliament. To remove the misconceptions spread among the people, we have launched a public awareness campaign and give correct information about the Act. He said that if opposition’s job is to oppose, then it should protest the laws made for minorities in Pakistan, Bangladesh and Afghanistan and the atrocities committed on them there.
The Chief Minister said that the Citizens Amendment Act 2019 is a law to grant citizenship not to deny citizenship. Under the Act, Hindus, Sikhs, Jains, Buddhists, Christians from neighboring countries Pakistan, Bangladesh and Afghanistan will be given citizenship.
He said that the incident of stone pelting on the Sikh Gurdwara in Pakistan is very unfortunate, which is a blatant display of atrocities committed on the minorities there.
