Chandigarh, February 16 - Haryana Chief Minister Mr. Manohar Lal visited the Camera Museum in Sector 28, Gurugram. The Chief Minister directed the Deputy Commissioner, Mr. Amit Khatri, that while planning the route of City Buses in the city, it should be kept in mind that tourist spots such as the Camera Museum should have ample bus connectivity so that the general public and tourists, alike, are able to visit these places conveniently.
Mr. Manohar Lal also said that electric buses will be included in the city bus fleet, that the smaller sized buses of the fleet will be used to enhance the connectivity of these places. The Camera Museum has been built in collaboration with the Municipal Corporation Gurugram at a cost of about Rs 5 crores.
Chief Minister Mr. Manohar Lal said that for the first time he has seen such a unique museum that has the complete history of the cameras with which he used to take pictures and that cameras of different sizes from different eras are on display. The museum is really worth visiting with very old cameras; even the cameras used in World War II displayed here, he added.
Renowned Photographer and Visual Historian Mr. Aditya Arya informed Chief Minister Mr. Manohar Lal that the Camera Museum is a modern museum showcasing the History of Art, Science, and Photography. Apart from that, he said that this unique museum has more than 3000 objects on display which include cameras from antiquity to the present day, various tools of photography, photographs that are more than 200 years old, etc. Mr. Aditya Arya said that one can see, for themselves, some of the oldest cameras in the world, including those that are more than 100 years old. It is a center through which professionals and photography enthusiasts can learn and experience the magic of photography.
The Chief Minister also took a round of an old photo studio, set up in the museum, where he spent some time and got his pictures clicked in the same manner as they used to click pictures back then. A rare photo of Mahatma Gandhi and Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel was also presented to the Chief Minister by the operators at the museum.
