Chandigarh, November 5 - Haryana Chief Minister Sh Manohar Lal today dedicated two important projects to the people of Gurugram costing Rs. 141 crores.
The new projects include the newly constructed flyover at Basai Chowk and Mahavir Chowk underpass near the main bus stand.
Addressing a gathering the Chief Minister said that a new chapter has been added to the journey that started eight years back to make Gurugram a developed city. With these new projects, people will get relief from traffic jams.
On this occasion, the people of village Basai honoured the Chief Minister by presenting him with a turban on behalf of the residents of village Basai and surrounding areas.
The villagers also honoured Gurugram MLA, Sh. Sudhir Singla, Badshahpur MLA who is also the Chairman, Haryana Agro Industries Corporation Limited, Sh. Rakesh Daultabad and Chief Executive Officer, Gurugram Metropolitan Development Authority, Sh. Sudhir Rajpal.
Referring to the development of Gurugram done during the tenure of the present government, Sh. Manohar Lal said that with the inauguration of two big projects, Gurugram has taken another giant leap forward in terms of development.
Highlighting the difference between the working style of the previous governments and the present BJP government, the Chief Minister said that till BJP came to power, the previous governments always exploited Gurugram and never paid any heed towards its development. The developmental plans of the previous government remained limited to papers only, said Sh. Manohar Lal.
"When our government came to power in 2014, Gurugram Metropolitan Development Authority (GMDA) was formed to expand the development and further ensure that the development scheme related to Gurugram are formulated and are. approved here only and there is no need to send the file to Chandigarh to get any approval," added the Chief Minister.
He said that the development of Gurugram has gained momentum with the formation of GMDA.
The Chief Minister said that the present government has worked to bridge the gap between the old Gurugram city and the new Gurugram which had widened during the previous governments. Plans have also been made and implemented for the development of the old city as well, he added.
Sh. Manohar Lal while mentioning the road, Infrastructure and metro expansion projects said that the project for laying a metro line from the HUDA City Centre metro station to Gurugram, connecting the Palam Vihar area up to Dwarka Sector-21, has been approved.
He said that when the central government had implemented the smart city plan, Gurugram was not included in it because we aim to make Gurugram the smartest city not just only smart. For Smart City, the Central Government allocates an amount of Rs. 500 crores, whereas in Gurugram, projects worth Rs. 1000 crores have been completed and work is going on on many projects, added the Chief Minister.
Referring to the major projects being implemented through GMDA, the Chief Minister said that the construction of multi-speciality Sheetla Mata Medical College and Hospital in Gurugram with a capacity of 650 beds is in progress. The hospital will be built in Sector 102 at a cost of about Rs 542 crore.
Similarly, The Southern Peripheral Road (SPR) from Faridabad Road to Delhi-Jaipur Highway is being strengthened and 8 flyovers will be constructed on this route, this project will cost about Rs.846 crore, informed Sh. Manohar Lal.
He said that the construction of the flyover and underpass at Atul Kataria Chowk on Old Delhi Road is in the final stage, and the road from Rampura Chowk to Pataudi Road is being upgraded. To strengthen the arrangements for drinking water supply, work of about Rs 375 crore is in progress for setting up a second water house at Basai. Furthermore, the work of setting up the watershed and water treatment plant at Chandu Budheda is also in progress. He said that these 39 projects costing Rs. 3388 crores are in progress or pipeline.
Chief Minister to personally visit the land site suggested by MLA, Sh. Rakesh Daulatabad, after that MRF and processing unit, will be shifted there
Referring to the matter of temporarily setting up a Material Recovery Facility (MRF) and a processing unit on 5 acres of land near the village Basai, the Chief Minister clarified that this arrangement is purely temporary and apart from dumping the waste on this site, its processing will be done. Cleaning of this area will be ensured simultaneously, said Sh. Manohar Lal.
On the objections raised by the villagers on this, the Chief Minister gave the responsibility of finding 10 acres of land to the villagers and said that the Government will shift this MRF and management unit on the land suggested by the villagers.
Meanwhile, Badshahpur MLA, Sh. Rakesh Daulatabad suggested an alternative piece of land to the Chief Minister, responding to this, the Chief Minister said that once the survey of the land suggested by the MLA, is done, this MRF and processing unit will be shifted there. He said that he would visit the site in the next week or 10 days.
Whenever CM visits Gurugram, he always gifts some big projects to the area residents, Sh. Rakesh Daulatabad
Addressing the gathering, Sh. Rakesh Daulatabad said that the Chief Minister himself monitors every development project related to Gurugram.
Whenever the Chief Minister comes to Gurugram, he gives some big projects to Gurugram. In the last eight years, Sh. Manohar Lal has dedicated various projects related to roads and flyovers to the majority population of old Gurugram hence involving them in the development journey of this city.
He said that by approving the metro extension connecting Rezangla Chowk the Chief Minister has completely eradicated the difference between the old and the new Gurugram city.
He also appealed to the villagers not to be misled by the opposition. Sh. Manohar Lal who is constantly working on the principle of 'Sabka Saath Sabka Vikas' in the state is ensuring the overall development of Gurugram. Our state will not ever get such a humble and simple personality like Chief Minister said Sh. Rakesh Daulatabad.
The Chief Minister did what he had promised for the development of Gurugram, MLA, Sh. Sudhir Singla
Speaking on the occasion, Gurugram MLA, Sh. Sudhir Singla said that Chief Minister has a clear vision for the development of Gurugram. Whatever he said about the development of Gurugram, he has fulfilled the same.
The Chief Minister has done innumerable works for the all-round development of Gurugram which was never done by the previous governments, said Sh. Sudhir Singla.
He said that under the guidance of the Chief Minister, such a network of roads, flyovers and underpasses has been laid in Gurugram that today there is no jam-like situation in Gurugram.
He said that today the opposition has no valid issue to oppose the Manohar Lal-led government as the Chief Minister Is working with full commitment to ensure holistic development of the State with complete transparency.
GMDA has given assurance to solve the old problems of drinking water, sewerage and drainage of Gurugram city, CEO
Earlier, the Chief Executive Officer, of Gurugram Metropolitan Development Authority, Sh. Sudhir Rajpal while welcoming the Chief Minister and other guests said that the two big projects which have been inaugurated today were no less than winning the difficult challenge of completing the construction at the busiest intersections without causing inconvenience to the public.
He said that GMDA would resolve the problems related to drinking water supply, sewerage and drainage of rainwater in Gurugram in a phased manner.
He further said that with the cooperation of the general public and elected public representatives, development projects are being implemented at the grassroots level.
Sh. Sudhir Rajpal informed that GMDA has completed 12 projects costing Rs 586 crore in the last 9 months and work has started on 39 new projects worth about Rs 3388 crore, in which floating of tenders of some in process and tenders of many have been already floated.
On this occasion Police Commissioner, Smt. Kala Ramachandran, Deputy Commissioner, Sh. Nishant Kumar Yadav and other officers and many dignitaries remained present.
