Chandigarh, April 13 - Haryana Chief Minister, Sh. Manohar Lal today reached Roopraka village, which is known as the village of martyrs, before addressing the gathering during a Jan Samvad programme at Uttawar village in Palwal district.
The Chief Minister was warmly greeted by the villagers. Later he paid homage to the martyrdom of the immortal martyrs at Shaheed Minar and announced Rs. 5 lakh for the renovation of the 105 feet high Shaheed Minar built in the village.
While paying floral tributes at the Shaheed Minar, the Chief Minister said that in the 1857 struggle, the brave heroes of this village sacrificed their lives for the protection of the country.
The Chief Minister also inspired the youth that the contribution of our brave sons in the freedom struggle can never be forgotten.
The Chief Minister also paid homage to those who lost their lives in the Jallianwala Bagh massacre in Amritsar on April 13, 1919.
