Chandigarh, May 10 – Haryana Government, led by Chief Minister, Mr. Manohar Lal, in its commitment to send willing migrant workers to their home states is providing free transport facility through 5000 buses and 100 ‘Special Shramik trains’ for them to reach their states in a safe and systematic manner.
Divulging more details about the same, an official spokesperson said that after the announcement made by Chief Minister Mr. Manohar Lal to send every migrant labourer and agricultural labourer back to their home states, So far about 68,000 such migrant labourers have been sent back to their home states free of cost through various trains and buses.
As many as 6000 migrant labourers have returned to their homes states through 200 buses to western Uttar Pradesh and other states and more than 3600 migrant labourers through three trains to Bihar and Madhya Pradesh.
He informed that till date through more than 1100 buses carrying migrant workers have been sent to various states, 890 buses has been sent to Uttar Pradesh, 152 buses to Rajasthan, 44 buses to Madhya Pradesh, 9 buses each to Punjab, and Uttarakhand and 2 buses have been sent to Himachal Pradesh.
He informed that till date through a total of 14 ‘Special Shramik trains’ migrant workers have departed to Bihar and Madhya Pradesh, out of which 10 trains were departed to Bihar and 4 trains to Madhya Pradesh.
He said that the entire cost of transportation through trains and buses is being borne by the Haryana Government. He said that adequate arrangements are being made by the government to keep these labourers in shelter homes, bringing them to the railway station and bus station for their onward journey to their homes.
He informed that till now 28000 migrant labourers have been sent from Haryana to Uttar Pradesh. Similarly, more than 12000 migrant labourers have been sent to Bihar and 9550 migrant labourers to Uttarakhand, while 6500 migrant labourers have gone back to their home state of Madhya Pradesh.
The spokesman said that 435 migrant labourers have been sent to Rajasthan, 221 to Punjab, 54 to Himachal Pradesh, 46 to Kerala, 32 to Assam, 39 to Maharashtra, 27 to Gujarat, 41 to Jammu and Kashmir, 10 to Delhi and 18 migrant labourers to Andhra Pradesh.
He informed that about 8500 migrant workers who were issued passed by concerned District Administration were sent to their states. Similarly, about 10,000 Haryana residents have been brought back to Haryana.
The spokesman said that tomorrow, 200 special buses would ply for Western Uttar Pradesh and other states and two Special Shramik trains’ would be depart for Bihar.
