Chandigarh, Aug 8 – The Haryana State Legal Services Authority (HSLSA), in association with the Education Department, will organise an annual function of the Student Legal Literacy Mission-2018 at Deenbandhu Chhotu Ram University of Science and Technology, Murthal, Sonepat on August 10, 2019. Chief Minister, Mr. Manohar Lal will inaugurate the function.

While giving this information here today, a spokesman of the HSLSA said that Judge of Supreme Court of India, Mr. Justice Uday Umesh Lalit will be the chief guest in the function. The Judges of the Supreme Court of India, Mr. Justice Hemant Gupta and Mr. Justice Surya Kant will be the guests of honour. He said that Chief Justice, High Court of Punjab and Haryana and Patron in Chief of Haryana State Legal Services Authority, Mr. Justice Krishna Murari will preside over the function, whereas Judge of Punjab and Haryana High Court and Executive Chairman of the HSLSA, Mr. Justice Rajiv Sharma and Mr. Justice Surinder Gupta will deliver the welcome address.

He said that under the Student Legal Literacy Mission, 7101 Legal Literacy Clubs have been established in private and government schools, and colleges of the state. With the help of these clubs, students are being educated about their legal rights. Efforts are being made to reach maximum students through these clubs so that maximum number of youth is made aware through the Legal Literacy Mission.

The spokesperson said that under this Mission, different competitions are organized on socio-legal issues at various levels throughout the state. The winners of the competitions are awarded medals, certificates and cash prizes.
