Chandigarh, March 17- Chief Electoral Officer, Haryana Mr Rajeev Ranjan said that now, all voting related information would be easily available for voters in all districts, through Touch Screen. For this purpose, touch screens would be set up across the state. The first such touch screen in the state, has been inaugurated in Kurukshetra today. Seventeen Touch Screens would be set up in the four assembly constituencies of the district.
Mr Ranjan gave this information after inaugurating the first voting related Touch Screen set up in Kurukshetra today. On the occasion, District Election Officer and Deputy Commissioner, Dr S.S. Phulia was also present.
Mr Ranjan also inspected the Touch Screen by putting the name of an employee and a media person and also checked the SMS received on voters' mobile number after filling in a voters’ mobile number on the screen. He also dialed toll free number 1950 and sought voting related information. On the occasion, Dr Phulia also apprised the Chief Electoral Officer about SVEEP activities of district Kurukshetra and detailed report of arrangements related to General Elections to Lok Sabha -2019.
Mr Ranjan said that the procedure of getting vote related information just by touching the screen has been started. For this, touch screens would be set up in all tehsils, offices of BDPO, office of DDPO, Bus Stand, Saral Kendras of assembly constituencies of the district. After this, Touch Screen would be set up in the entire state. He said that through the medium of this screen, the voter could get information like vote, booth no, place of booth, EPIC no, Assembly number, Vidhan Sabha Constituency, vote related information about all members of family. Not only this, through touch screen, a voter could also get vote related data on his mobile through SMS by filing in the option of SMS on screen. After feeding the mobile number within seconds the information reaches on his mobile number. This touch screen would work to provide latest vote related information to the voter, in the upcoming Lok Sabha and Vidhan Sabha elections.
He said that SVEEP activities are being carried out in the entire state and officers have been issued directions to prepare an elaborate plan for increasing the voting percentage. He said that those eligible voters who still do not have their voters card, they could apply to get their voters card made till April 12, 2019 up to 3 pm. They could also apply online on www.nvsp.in. He said that in order to publicize this, hoardings are being put up at public places and Electoral Literacy Club has been made active at colleges and universities.
He said that the principals of colleges would also issue a certificate ensuring that no student in their college who is 18 years or above age is without Voter’s Card. This time, technology would be used in elections, under which violation of Model Code of Conduct and counselling of election expenditure would be impossible.
He said that first time cVIGIL app is being used in elections under which any person can upload photos or videos related to violation of Model Code of Conduct and exercising of any irregularities by any candidate or political party. Complaints received on cVIGIL would be redressed within 100 minutes by the officer concerned. That would also make up for strong evidences against the candidate which can be presented in the court, he added
