Chandigarh June 26 - Haryana Chief Minister, Mr Manohar Lal today emphasized the need to frame such an Education Policy which would enable the students to compete at the international level. A system is being put in place in the State to ensure that no child in the age group of 3 to 15 years remain deprived of education and get admitted in schools, he added.

Mr Manohar Lal was speaking on the concluding day of two-day seminar on draft National Education Policy – 2019 organized by Haryana State Higher Education Council here today.

The Chief Minister said that family IDs of both joint as well nuclear families in the State are being prepared by the State Government which would have the entire data of number of members in a family and other information like name and age of father, mother, children, spouse etc. Apart from this, birth, marriage and death registration would also be linked with this system, he added.

He said that the data so collected would not only help in ascertaining the actual number of children of 3 to 15 years which are not going to school due to any reasons but also go a long way in taking effective steps to ensure that they are admitted in schools. Assistance of Non Government Organizations (NGOs) and other voluntary organizations would also be taken for this purpose, he added.

The Chief Minister said that apart from the education department, the family Id system would also be implemented in other departments also to ensure transparency in the distribution of benefits under various welfare schemes of the government like the social security pension including the old age and financial assistance, grant and scholarship being given to physically challenged and to those belonging to Scheduled Castes and Backward Classes. Each department would maintain its own data of beneficiaries, he further added.

Earlier, he asked the educationists present in the seminar to prepare a report in consultation with the Education Department suggesting improvements in draft education policy and submit the same by June 30, 2019. He said that the State Government has already implemented several initiatives mentioned in the draft Education Policy 2019. Special emphasis is being given towards the skilling of youth so as to make them employable. He suggested that in the Education Policy, stress should be given on imparting moral education to the students as it would help in further strengthening the society and nation.

Additional Chief Secretary Higher Education Mr Anil Kumar, Vice-Chancellor of various Universities in the State and educationists were also present on this occasion.
