Chandigarh July 26: Haryana Chief Minister, Mr Manohar Lal has offered Nepal to be the partner Country for the International Gita Jayanti Mahotsav scheduled to be held at Kurukshetra this year from December 3 to December 8, 2019.

Mr Manohar Lal made this offer when Ambassador of Nepal to India Mr Nilamber Acharya called on him here today.

Mr Manohar Lal said that Haryana has been celebrating Gita Jayanti Mahotsav of International Level for the last three years and every year a country is invited to become a partner country for the event. This year, Nepal is invited to be a partner country. He said that an International Seminar on Shrimad Bhagwad Gita would also be organized as part of the celebrations on December 6, 2019 and the devotees and scholars from Nepal could participate in it.

The Chief Minister said that as a result of efforts made by Haryana for the promotion of Shrimad Bhagwad Gita at a grand scale, many other countries have also started celebrating Gita Jayanti in their countries. He said that Mauritius organized Gita Mahotsav in the month of February 2019 and now it is being organized in United Kingdom (UK) from August 7 to August 9, 2019. Canada has also proposed to organize similar Mahotsav in their country. Mr Manohar Lal said that during the International Gita Mahotsav in the State last year, about 18,000 students together recited ‘shlokas’ of the Shrimad Bhagwad Gita thus created a world record.

Ambassador of Nepal to India Mr Nilamber Acharya said that India and Nepal has lot of similarities though Nepal is a small country. He said that both Haryana and Nepal could collaborate in the fields of agriculture, agro industry and industrialization and share their best practices thus contribute significantly in the development of India and Nepal, he added.

On this occasion, Chief Minister, Mr Manohar Lal presented a copy of Shrimad Bhagawad Gita and a model of Lord Krishna’s Chariot to Mr. Nilamber Acharya as mark of respect.

Chief Secretary Mrs Keshni Anand Arora and Principal Secretary to Chief Minister Mr Rajesh Khullar were also present on this occasion.
