Chandigarh, Aug 30- Haryana Cabinet which met under the Chairmanship of Chief Minister, Mr Manohar Lal here today, approved the transfer of Centre for Plant Biotechnology (CPB) from Science Council to Chaudhary Charan Singh Haryana Agricultural University (CCSHAU), Hisar.
The CPB will be transferred on ‘as is where is’ basis alongwith all existing assets and liabilities to the University subject to the condition that CCSHAU will operate and run CPB along the lines of its set objectives, which will not be altered without the approval of the department.
The CCSHAU will absorb the services of all regular employees of CPB and accord them service continuity and other benefits of past service rendered in CPB on a regular basis. Those regular employees of CPB who are not willing to move the University may retain in Haryana State Council for Science and Technology (HSCST).
The CPB formerly known as Centre for Research and Application in Plant Tissue Culture (CRAPTC) was established in the year 2000 to achieve various objectives including production of elite planting material of horticulture/floriculture crops for field evaluation, to carry out need based research to support the production activities, to provide intensive and extensive training to scientists, entrepreneurs, farmers and corporates and to popularise application of tissue culture technology in the state. However, CRAPTC was renamed as CPB in the year 2007 to widen its activities and objectives.
