Chandigarh, January, 4: Haryana Chief Minister, Mr. Manohar Lal said that to commemorate the birth anniversary of Swami Vivekananda, which is being celebrated as the National Youth Day, a marathon will be organized in all the districts on January 12, 2020. The theme of the Marathon will be ‘Run for Youth, Youth for Nation and Nation for Youth’. He said that in the marathon, the youth will participate with a new resolution to work for the national interest.

The Chief Minister shared this while presiding over a meeting with Divisional Commissioners, Deputy Commissioners and Superintendents of Police, through video, conferencing here today. Minister of State for Sports and Youth Affairs, Mr. Sandeep Singh and Chief Secretary Mrs. Keshni Anand Arora and other senior officials were also present in the meeting.

The Chief Minister said that this marathon will be organized successfully in all the districts and around 5000 to 10000 youth in the age group of 35 years are expected to participate. Apart from this, a separate Indoor program will also be organized at all the district headquarters, in which 300 to 500 young achievers in the age group of 35 years, from the academic, sports and other fields will be honored.

The Chief Minister said that on this occasion, he will also directly interact with the youth through video conferencing. The Chief Minister informed that for this event, Special Officer (Community Policing and Outreach) in Chief Minister's Office, Mr. OP Singh has been made the nodal officer and Sports and Youth Affairs Department will be the nodal department.

He said that the participants will have to register on the nationalyouth.in website. He directed the officers that youth clubs and other social organizations should also be made partners in this program. He said that youth plays an important role in nation-building and with a view to make the youth work for the State and national interest, Haryana Government has organized various sports events for youth in the past too.

The meeting was attended by Deputy Principal Secretary to Chief Minister, Mrs. Ashima Brar, Principal Secretary, Sports, and Youth Affairs Department, Mr. Anand Mohan Sharan, Director-General of Police, Mr. Manoj Yadava and Divisional Commissioner, Karnal, Mr. Vineet Garg, and other senior officials were present.
