Chandigarh January 8: The 5th meeting of the Gurugram Metropolitan Development Authority (GMDA) concluded under the Chairmanship of Haryana Chief Minister Mr. Manohar Lal in Gurugram today. Besides reviewing the proceedings of the previous meeting, several important points were also discussed in the meeting to give further momentum to the development of Gurugram.

The air pollution control in Gurugram was discussed in detail in the meeting. Deputy Commissioner Mr. Amit Khatri informed that he has initiated several initiatives to reduce pollution levels in consultation with all stakeholders. For this, an action plan would also be prepared in collaboration with GMDA and other related agencies, he added.

He said that Expression of Interest was invited from the corporate companies to establish low cost monitors under the CSR to monitor pollution . Five companies have shown interest in this work. He informed that 140 locations have been identified in consultation with GMDA's Smart City Division. Initially there was a plan to integrate them with CCTV network but it could not be technically feasible. Therefore, now by setting up a separate pollution monitor, they would be connected to the command and control center of GMDA.

Mr Khatri informed that all instructions of Environmental Pollution Control Authority (EPCA) are being followed and Graded Response Action Plan (GRAP) is being implemented. He informed that in the monsoon season, plantation has been done on four master roads in the city and now the plantation would be done along the roads. Not only this, four tractors and water tanker have been installed to control road side dust, with the help of which water is being sprayed, he added.

In today's meeting discussion was also held on extending the city bus service of GMCBL to Delhi and Faridabad. The Chief Minister directed the officers to apply for a temporary permit to the concerned Authority for the operation of the bus service on the respective routes. Also, the cooperation of public representatives, RWA and other organizations should be sought while deciding the route for the city bus service running in Gurugram.

CEO, GMCBL Mrs Sonal Goel said that 125 buses are being run on 14 routes under city bus service and soon 25 new buses would also be added to the fleet. Similarly, a committee should be constituted for regular monitoring of works related to public service.

Approval was also accorded regarding the share of GMDA in the proposal to set up Shri Shitala Mata Devi Medical College. The project funding to be provided by Shree Sheetla Mata Devi Shrine Board would be 5 per cent whereas, the remaining funding would be made by GMDA and MCG in the ratio of 50:45. The Chief Minister held detailed discussions with the officers for the construction of the sports complex at Sector-9. CEO, GMDA Mr V.S Kundu also presented the balance sheet of the financial year 2017-18 and 2018-19 in the meeting.

The infrastructure facilities as well as other projects related to sewerage, drinking water, roads were discussed in detail in the meeting. In the GMDA meeting chaired by the Chief Minister, the previous schemes as well as future action plans were also discussed.

Among those present in the meeting included Additional Principal Secretary to Chief Minister Mr V Umashankar, MLA Gurugram Mr Sudhir Singla, MLA Pataudi Mr Satya Prakash Jarawta, MLA Badshahpur Mr Rakesh Daultabad, Gurugram Mayor Mrs Madhu Azad, Senior Deputy Mayor Mrs Parmila Kabalana, Additional Chief Secretary Environment Mrs Dheera Khandelwal, Additional Chief Secretary, Power Mr T.C. Gupta, Principal Secretary Town and Country Planning Mr A.K Singh and other senior officers of the State Government.
