Chandigarh, January 12- On National Youth Day, with the slogan 'Haryana Ek-Haryanavi Ek', Chief Minister Manohar Lal flagged off 'Run for Youth-Youth for Nation' from IOC Chowk in Rewari today. The event which received overwhelming response created history today as around 4 lakh youth participated statewide in the programme organised on the National Youth Day.
In this state-level program, Chief Minister Mr. Manohar Lal, Cabinet Minister Dr. Banwari Lal, MLA Mr. Laxman Singh Yadav, former Minister Mr. Bikram Singh Yadav, DGP Mr. Manoj Yadav, ADGP, CID Mr Anil Kumar Rao, ADGP Dr. R.C. Mishra, ADGP Mr. OP Singh, Deputy Commissioner, Rewari, Mr. Yashendra Singh, along with thousands of youth ran together in the Run for Youth Marathon. The participants ran from IOC Chowk to Daksha Prajapati Chowk today. Both men and women of all age groups
participated in the race.
Chief Minister Mr. Manohar Lal also ran with the youth in the event. He urged the youth to ran like Mr. Milkha Singh. He said the Run for Youth program has created history and will set a benchmark for a better society and the nation.
The Chief Minister said that today more than four lakh youth are running on the footsteps of reformer and educationist, Swami Vivekananda and this race will continue to achieve its goals. Swami Vivekananda used to say, "Get up, wake up and run till the goal is achieved". Today the youth have to run with the same resolve and also keep their morale high. The words of Swami Vivekananda are inspiring and guiding for the younger generation even today, he said.
Mr. Manohar Lal said that today we have to run like Milkha Singh. With the resolve of 'Mera Haryana Mahan' and ''Haryana Ek-Haryanavi Ek', we have to take this state forward. The main objective of celebrating National Youth Day is to make the youth aware of Swami Vivekananda's ideas. Swami Vivekananda is a source of inspiration for the youth and his words still serve to inspire the youth.
The inspiring lines of Chief Minister for the youth
Those who are raised in storms are the ones who change the world (Toofano mein jo palte hai, wahi duniya badalte hai). When the Chief Minister said this line at the state-level program organized on National Youth Day, thousands of youth present at IOC Chowk greeted the Chief Minister with slogan of “Bharat Mata Ki Jai.”
He said that today this marathon will start from IOC Chowk to Daksha Prajapati Chowk. The message of the marathon will go far and wide.
Chief Minister welcomed with fanfare
In the state-level program organized on National Youth Day, the Chief Minister of Haryana, Mr. Manohar Lal was welcomed with drums at the IOC Chowk. Women and children in Haryanvi costumes greeted him with flowers. The youth was present in large numbers raised slogans of Jai Haryana.
Winners of the marathon
Virendra Kumar, from Uttar Pradesh, came first in the men's category. Manjit Singh who hails from Uttarakhand bagged the second position and Vishwajit from Rewari got the third position. In the women's category, Bharti, from Gokalgarh (Rewari) came first, Sharmila, from Baldhan (Rewari) stood second and Sarita from Jakhala (Rewari) stood third.
Those who secured the first three places in the female and male categories were honored with cash prizes.
