Chandigarh, January 23: While, speaking over the decision taken on SYL in the all-party meeting of Punjab today, Haryana Chief Minister, Mr. Manohar Lal said that he hopes that the Supreme Court decision on the issue will come soon because in the previous execution order of the Supreme Court it was stated that the issue should be resolved amicably.

The Chief Minister said this while responding to the questions asked by the media here today. He said that the Supreme Court had asked the Punjab and Haryana to build SYL by finding an amicable solution with mutual understanding, but it is positive that in today’s all-party meeting, Punjab has taken the decision of their State and when this decision taken by Punjab goes to the Supreme Court, then surely the Supreme Court will give its decision soon.

The Chief Minister said that the statement given by Punjab is not convincing, because there has been an agreement and that agreement has been recognized and even the Supreme Court has given the decision, now only to execute the decision of the Supreme Court, the Supreme Court itself has to give an execution order. Now, it seems that Punjab has backed out of the decision of settling the issue amicably. Thus, surely the Supreme Court will now take decide soon, he hoped.

The Chief Minister said that whether to get water or not, SYL is to be made or not to be made, these things have been already decided. He said that now an affidavit will be filed in the Supreme Court by the Central Government that they have tried to resolve the matter but the consent has not been made. The decision will be held on how and who will be making it.

While responding to another question, the Chief Minister said that the time which was being wasted so far on the SYL issue, it will not happen this time and he is positive that Haryana will definitely get its benefit
