Chandigarh, March 14 - Haryana Chief Minister, Mr. Manohar Lal said that for providing services at the doorstep of livestock owners for the treatment of their animals, a mobile dispensary 'Pashu Sanjeevni Sewa' will be started in the state. Apart from this, to make dairy farming a more profitable venture, efforts are being made to further increase the milk production in the state.

The Chief Minister was addressing cattle rearers as Chief Guest on the second day of the 37th cattle exhibition held at NDRI ground in Karnal today. He inaugurated the program by lighting the lamp. He visited the exhibition by riding a camel. The Chief Minister also witnessed the “Cattle Ramp Show" and congratulated the cattlemen for this.

Speaking on the occasion, the Chief Minister said that the farmers are associated with agriculture and animal husbandry, without farming, animal husbandry cannot be more profitable. Therefore, to double the farmers’ income by combining both, the Haryana government is promoting agriculture and animal husbandry. While doing this, the country and the State will further progress. He said that every State resident should make efforts to increase milk production so that Haryana's can achieve top position in milk production.

The Chief Minister said that to increase the income from milk production, new plants will be set up in the State and a project of preserving the milk through Tetra packing will also be started. Any person can buy the milk available in the packing if needed. Similarly, large milk coolers will be installed to keep the milk cool. Another plant will be set up in Hisar with Indo-Israeli cooperation.

The Chief Minister said that the tradition of rearing Milch animals along with farming has been in place since ancient times and this has a unique identity in our economy. Therefore, the government is emphasizing on dairy development and encouraging cattle rearers to increase their income.

He said that now 80 to 90 percent of the calves will be born in the State from the new technique of animal conception from the sex-sorted semen technique brought from Brazil. The technique has already been successful in the State. Earlier, the price of this was Rs 800 in the State, now it has been kept at Rs 200, which is the lowest in the country. This will increase the production of milk in the coming years, which will increase the income of the farmer, he added.

He said that two days ago there was a workshop in Kurukshetra Gurukul on the use of natural farming, in which it was informed that instead of fertilizers, cow dung and urine mixture is used in natural farming. The government has decided that the farmer who does such farming will be encouraged.

He said that the Prime Minister's dream of doubling the income of farmers’ by the year 2022 will also be fulfilled. Similarly, the scheme to encourage cattle rearers’ keeping good Milch is already implemented. Under this scheme, an amount of Rs 30 thousand is given as award money to the murrah buffalo and Rs 20 thousand to cows. Apart from this, Cooperative milk societies are being given incentives separately on cow and buffalo milk.

Speaking on the occasion, Agriculture and Farmers Welfare and Animal Husbandry Minister, Mr. Jai Parkash Dalal said that revolutionary steps have been taken in Haryana to improve the health and breed of cattle. The disease has been eradicated from the state by jointly devising the same vaccine for foot and mouth diseases. For the welfare of the cattle rearer, Pashupalak Credit Cards are being made on the lines of the Kisan Credit Card. With this card, the cattle rearer can take a loan of up to Rs 3 lakh at a rate of interest of four percent. Similarly, 2 lakh 48 thousand animals have been insured so far under Pashudhan Bima Yojana, which is a record in itself.

He informed that cattle will be insured and a target has been set to insure about 10 lakh cattle next year. This will reduce the risk of the farmer and in case of death of an animal the beneficiary will be able to buy an animal again with the sum assured and with this, he will be able to continue his business.

He said that the Government has also started a scheme for small businessmen for sheep and goat rearing. He further said that any needy rearer can take advantage of this and can increase the income by taking 20 to 25 sheep and goats. The target is to increase the scope of beneficiaries under the scheme next year.
