Chandigarh, May 15 – As a part of consistent efforts of Haryana Government to send stranded migrant labourers who have given their significant contribution for building Haryana, safely to their home states during the lockdown due to COVID-19, two Special Shramik Trains departed from Faridabad and one each from Gurugram and Panipat carrying 5740 passengers to Bihar. Apart from this, about 6000 migrant labourers were sent to Uttar Pradesh on a total of 200 buses.
As per the directions of Haryana Chief Minister, Mr. Manohar Lal, concerned district administration made adequate arrangements for conducting health check-ups, thermal screening, and provided masks, water bottles and food packets at railway stations for the convenience of migrant labourers. The labourers were also made to maintain social distancing and keep their masks on before boarding the trains.
Today, 1500 migrant labourers each departed in two trains from Faridabad to Katihar and Barauni (Bihar), 1200 labourers went from Gurugram to Darbhanga (Bihar) and 1540 laborers were sent from Panipat to Bhagalpur (Bihar).
Apart from this, 60 buses from Rohtak, 40 from Ambala, 25 from Rewari, 20 from Karnal, 15 each from Kurukshetra and Dadri, 10 each from Kaithal and Panchkula and five buses from Yamunanagar carried migrant labourers to different regions of Uttar Pradesh.
3000 migrant labourers from Faridabad left for Katihar and Barauni in Bihar.
Today, on the first train from Faridabad, 1500 laborers left for Katihar and the same number of labourers left for Barauni. In Faridabad district, the migrant labourers who had registered themselves on the e-Disha portal were informed over the phone. The medical checkup of these migrant laborers was conducted by a team of doctors and after this all were brought to the railway station. Proper arrangements for food and water were made for them and they were also given free tickets. Apart from this, a person wanting to leave in his own vehicle, then he was allowed to do so. The labourers left for their homes with great joy and most of them said that they would like to return for work once the conditions are normal.
1540 laborers depart from Panipat railway station for Bhagalpur-Bihar
1540 laborers working in various industrial organizations and areas of Sonipat district were brought to Panipat railway station today via buses where they were showered with flowers and applause before departing for Bhagalpur in Bihar by Special Shramik Trains.
1200 labourers and their children depart from Gurugram for Darbhanga in Bihar
Today afternoon, 1200 passengers departed for Darbhanga in Bihar in 20 bogies of a Special Shramik Train from Gurugram railway station. Today was a special day for the visually impaired children who boarded the special train; firstly, because they were returning to their village and secondly, as soon as they reached the railway station, the Gurugram Police arranged a cake-cutting ceremony for them.
The labourers said that the Haryana Government made extensive arrangements of food and shelter during this hour of crisis. Passengers expressed their gratitude in different ways. Thanking the Haryana Government, Arun Kumar, who has been working for the last 30 years in Gurugram and Ramchandra, who has been driving a rickshaw for the last 22 years in Gurugram, said they lost their source of income due to the COVID-19 pandemic, however, due to the help of the State Government, they were able to manage for so long. They said that they are praying to God to bring everything back to normal so that they can return and start their work again.
