Chandigarh, May 18- Haryana Chief Minister, Mr. Manohar Lal said that the works under MGNREGA will be encouraged by the State Government for the purpose of providing employment to workers in rural areas in the state.
He said that Haryana is the first state in the country to give Rs 309 per day as MGNREGA wages and during this period of the COVID-19 crisis, emphasis will be given to provide work opportunities to more people by increasing the works under the MGNREGA in the coming days.
The Chief Minister said this while presiding over a review meeting of the works being done under MGNREGA here today. Deputy Chief Minister Mr. Dushyant Chautala was also present during the meeting.
The Chief Minister said that the additional budget provision of Rs 40000 crores made by the Union Finance Minister Ms. Nirmala Sitharaman under the MGNREGA scheme, will benefit Haryana immensely and the state will work extensively under MGNREGA.
The Chief Minister directed the concerned officers to develop a web portal for complete transparency of the work to be done under MGNREGA, on which details about the work done by various departments in every gram panchayat of the state will be made available. Apart from this, information about the works under progress should also be made available on the portal so that every person of the village gets information about them.
In the meeting, Chief Secretary, Mrs. Keshani Anand Arora, Principal Secretary to Chief Minister, Mr. Rajesh Khullar, Additional Chief Secretary, Agriculture and Farmers’ Welfare Department, Mr. Sanjeev Kaushal, Additional Chief Secretary, Fisheries Department, Mr. Varinder Singh Kundu, Additional Chief Secretary, Forests and Wildlife Department, Mr. Alok Nigam, Additional Chief Secretary, Irrigation and Water Resource Department, Mr. Devender Singh, Additional Chief Secretary, Finance Department, Mr. TVSN Prasad, Principal Secretary, School Education Department, Mr. Mahavir Singh and Principal Secretary, Development and Panchayats Department, Mr. Sudhir Rajpal and other senior officers were also present.
