Chandigarh, June 29: Haryana Chief Minister, Mr. Manohar Lal has urged the teachers to come to the forefront and make valuable contributions in preparing the students as nation-builders of the future. While highlighting the importance of the role of teachers in self-reliant India, the Chief Minister, said that the education should not remain confined to only basic school education i.e reading, writing, and arithmetic, rather every teacher should focus on the overall development of their students.

The Chief Minister was speaking at the webinar organized by Haryana Higher Education Council, held here today. Mr. Mukul Kanitkar, Organizing Secretary, Bhartiya Shikshan Mandal, Vice-Chancellors, Principals and teachers also shared their views on this occasion.

While highlighting the importance of the role of teachers in self-reliant India, the Chief Minister said,” I am sure that in the discussion held today we will get many ideas that help the students to become more cultured and self-reliant.”

He said that the role of the teacher is very important in recognizing the hidden skills and talents of any student and grooming them to become the nation builders of the future. Teachers should inspire them to do well and succeed in life. The role of any Government is to build Universities, Colleges, and Schools. It can make policies to bring reforms in the education sector but the role of teachers in nation-building, shaping the future of their students and enlightening society is paramount, he said.

He said that in the vision of Atamnirbhar Bharat as given by Prime Minister, Mr. Narendra Modi, Education remains one of the focal areas. Only teachers can play a pivotal role in showing the right direction to the youth and by imbibing the value of culture and spirit of dedication in them, the State can move forward on the path of progress and becoming self-reliant, he added.

While giving the example of veteran cricketer Sachin Tendulkar’s teacher who played a pivotal role in grooming his talent, the Chief Minister said that teachers could inspire youth to pursue their passion in life and excel in their chosen field.

Interestingly, he also shared his own school life experience. He said that his teacher, while identifying his ability, too inspired him to pursue his passion. He also recited a poem highlighting the importance of education.

He said that education is a very important part of a society, which not only makes any individual Atamnirbhar, but also ensures that the State and Country become self-reliant.
