Chandigarh, August 17- “Everyone live and struggle for themselves, but only they become immortal who live for the Nation and sacrifice their lives for the nation. Shaheed Madan Lal Dhingra was one such great patriot.”

Haryana Chief Minister, Mr. Manohar Lal said this while unveiling the statue of Amar Shaheed Madan Lal Dhingra in Karnal today. On this occasion, he paid homage to this great son of Mother India and called upon the youth to pledge to make the greatest sacrifice to protect the unity and integrity of the country and to make maximum contribution in the development of the nation and the State.

The Chief Minister today dedicated the new bus stand in Karnal to martyr Madan Lal Dhingra and also unveiled the martyr’s statue at the bus stand. This statue will remind every person passing through the city about this great son of Mother India and new generations will continue to be inspired by his spirit of patriotism, and sacrifice of brave.

The Chief Minister said that martyr Madan Lal Dhingra went to the gallows with a smile on his face had sacrificed his life bravely at a young age for the independence of the Nation. Before being hanged, the martyr had said that even if he had to be hanged many times over just to free the motherland from the shackles of slavery, he would do so.

The Chief Minister said that Haryana has always been at the forefront in honouring the brave soldiers who were martyred for the unity and integrity of the nation. The Chief Minister said that an international level martyr memorial is being built on 22 acres of land in Ambala in memory of the soldiers who were martyred in the freedom struggle of 1857, which will serve as an inspiration to the future generations. He said that pension and financial assistance to ex-servicemen and their dependents have been increased. In the last 5 years, dependents of 320 martyrs have been given government jobs in various departments. The Chief Minister said that the State Government has not only provided facilities to freedom fighters, ex-servicemen and serving soldiers, but also to paramilitary forces, in fact Matribhasha Satyagrahis and those who were put in jail during the Emergency are being given a monthly pension of Rs 10,000.

Earlier, the Chief Minister also conducted a surprise inspection of Shaheed Madan Lal Dhingra Park. While interacting with the public, he said that the park will be named after Shaheed Madan Lal Dhingra. On this occasion, the Chief Minister directed the officers to develop this park soon.

On this occasion Mr. Sanjay Bhatia, MP Karnal, Mr. Harvinder Kalyan, MLA Gharaunda, Mr. Ramkumar Kashyap, MLA Indri, Mr. Dharampal Gonder, MLA Neelokheri and Chairman, Forest Development Corporation, Mayor, Mrs. Renu Bala Gupta, Deputy Commissioner, Mr. Nishant Kumar Yadav and Superintendent of Police, Mr. SS Bhoria were present.
