Chandigarh September 24: Committed towards providing safe, secure and economical transport facilities to people of the State, Haryana Chief Minister, Mr Manohar Lal today inaugurated the newly constructed Bus Stand, Agroha in district Hisar. The Bus Stand has been constructed at a cost of Rs 2.30 crore and besides catering to the needs of people of nearby villages, it will also benefit the passengers travelling on long routes to Sirsa, Delhi, Gurugram, Chandigarh and states of Uttrakhand, Rajasthan and Punjab. Long-route buses will ply from this bus stand after an interval of every 10 minutes.

Mr Manohar Lal inaugurated the newly constructed Bus Stand, Agroha through video conferencing here today. Transport Minister, Mr Mool Chand Sharma was also present on this occasion while Deputy Chief Minister, Mr Dushyant Chautala and Minister of State for Archaeology and Museums, Mr Anoop Dhanak joined the programme in Hisar.

Speaking on this occasion, Mr Manohar Lal said that Agroha in district Hisar assumes a special significance as it is also known as capital of Maharaja Agrasen and now it has been developed as a famous pilgrimage site. A medical college in the name of Maharaja Agrasen is already functional in Agroha, he added.

Mr Manohar Lal said that the transport system of Haryana is among the best in the country and is committed to provide safe, secure, economical and reliable transport facilities to its people. He said that the bus stand at Agroha is located at a distance of only 20 kms from Hisar Bus Stand and buses on 450 timings will ply daily on different routes from this Bus Stand. He said that at present there are 128 small and large bus stands in the State.

He said that the State Government has started the work of construction of bus queue shelters on the rural roads for the convenience of passengers. He said that the Zila Parishads have been authorized to undertake the construction of these bus queue shelters as per requirement.

He said that the State Government is providing various facilities to the passengers in the State. Free transport facility upto 150 kms is being provided to girl students from their residence to educational institutions. Apart from this, the State Government is also providing free/concessional travel facilities to people of 41 different categories. This also includes free travel facilities for Cancer patients and one of their attendants.

He said that though the movement of buses has been affected in the State due to COVID-19 but now more than 50 per cent buses have resumed operations. He said that apart from the Haryana Roadways buses, the buses under the kilometer scheme have also started plying in the State. He said that 150 mini buses and 18 super luxury buses have been added into the fleet of Haryana Roadways between October, 2019 to June, 2020.

Earlier, the Chief Minister also congratulated Gram Panchayat Agroha that has provided 12 Kanal Panchayat land on lease at the rate of Rs one per year for 99 years for the construction of this Bus Stand.

A provision of separate toilets for male, female and specially abled persons has been made in this newly constructed Bus Stand at Agroha. Apart from this, the facility of canteen, clean drinking water and arrangement of sitting has also been made for the convenience of passengers.

Speaking on this occasion, Deputy Chief Minister, Mr Dushyant Chautala described the inauguration of the newly constructed Bus Stand at Agroha as a landmark occasion and said that it would directly cater to the transport needs of people of 25 nearby villages. He said that this new bus stand would give a new facelift to the transport system of Haryana which is already the best in the country.

Transport Minister, Mr Mool Chand Sharma thanked Chief Minister, Mr Manohar Lal for inaugurating the newly constructed Bus Stand and said that people of Agroha and adjoining villages would be largely benefited from this facility.

Among those present on this occasion included Principal Secretary, Transport Department Mr Anurag Rastogi and Director, Transport Department Mr Virender Kumar Dahiya.
