Chandigarh October 4: Haryana Chief Minister, Mr Manohar Lal today said that it is the present State Government which has made added efforts to get the State its legitimate share of water through Sutlej Yamuna Link (SYL) Canal.

Mr Manohar Lal was addressing the progressive farmers during the “Progressive Farmers Conference and Discussion on Agriculture Acts” organized by Agriculture and Farmers Welfare Department and Haryana State Agriculture and Marketing Board (HSAMB) at Karnal today.

The Chief Minister said that with a view to further encourage the progressive farmers and motivate them to help other farmers in enhancing their agriculture production through latest farm practices and better financial management, the State Government has decided to launch three new schemes namely ‘Pragatishil Kisan Samman Yojana’, ‘Pragatishil Kisan Trainer’ and ‘Kisan Mitra Yojana’.

He said that under the ‘Pragatishil Kisan Samman Yojana’, awards of Rs 16 lakh would be given to eight progressive farmers in the category of farmers having cultivable land of 10 acre or above. He said that while the first prize will carry Rs five lakh, second and third prize will carry Rs three lakh each. The remaining fourth, fifth, sixth, seventh and eighth award would carry Rs one lakh each. For the progressive farmers of five to 10 acres of land, 100 awards of Rs 50,000 each would be given. Likewise, for the farmers of less than 5 acre, award of Rs 10,000 per acre would be given.

The Chief Minister said eligible farmers will be required to apply for the awards before the committee to be constituted for this purpose. Progressive farmers will also be included in the committee, he added.

He said that under the ‘Pragatishil Kisan Trainer’ scheme, the progressive farmers will adopt atleast 10 nearby farmers and help them to develop as progressive farmers by motivating them to adopt best agriculture practices. He said that under ‘Kisan Mitra Yojana’ the progressive farmer will act as Kisan Mitra. He said that one Kisan Mitra will adopt 100 farmers and help them in better financial management.

The Chief Minister said that soon a directory of progressive farmers of the State would be published . Besides they will be sent important circulars issued by the Agriculture and Farmers’ Welfare Department issued from time to time for their convenience.
