Chandigarh October 4, Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Lal, today gave a big relief to the commuters of Karnal and nearby areas after he announced the construction of Karnal Eastern bypass at a cost of Rs 1300 crore. He said that the National Highways Authority of India has given the final nod for this project.

The length of the bypass will be 35 kilometers and it will be 7 meters wide. The new bypass will start from GT Road covering the area between Madhuban and Kutel and will connect to Jhanjhari village on GT Road. He said that the bypass will ease the connectivity of the nearby villages too.

The Chief Minister was addressing the gathering at a function held at Deenbandhu Chaudhary Chhotu Ram Namastey Chowk in the Karnal city on Sunday.

On this occasion, he unfurled the newly constructed sculpture of Namastey and also inaugurated the grand welcome gate constructed in the name of Danveer Karan.

An amount of Rs. 45 lakhs has been spent on the welcome gate and Rs. 15 lakhs has been spent on the construction of Namastey sculpture.

Speaking on the occasion, the Chief Minister said that Danveer Karan Welcome Gate has been made newly, while Namastey sculpture has been installed 25 feet above the ground in a new form, the site of Chaudhary Chhotu Ram statue has also been beautified. An environmental sensor LED screen has also been installed at Namastey Chowk which will display PPM levels in the air, pollution levels, temperature and population in the city.

To make sure that all these features are clearly visible from the flyover, the size of the LED screen will be increased from 8x8 to 12x12 and the height will be up to 50 feet. Similarly, the statue of Chaudhary Chhotu Ram will also be raised to a height of 24 feet.

Speaking on the occasion, the Chief Minister said that under the plan of constructing eight welcome gates on all the entrances of Karnal city, the second entry gate in the name of Danveer Karan has been dedicated to the public today. Work on two gates is going on in full swing, while the remaining four gates will also be constructed soon.

He said that a welcome gate named Shrimad Bhagwat Gita Dwar at Baldi bypass has already been inaugurated.

Amidst applause from the gathering, the Chief Minister said that whatever new ideas for the development of Karnal will come, feasibility of the same will be checked and ideas will be given concrete form.

The Chief Minister said that Karnal city is developing as a smart city and an amount of Rs 1000 crore will be spent to achieve this target. So far works worth Rs 350 crore are in progress under Smart City.

He said that out of this Rs. 500 crore has been given by the Central Government and Rs. 500 crore will be spent by the State Government.

On this occasion, Mayor Mrs. Renu Bala Gupta while welcoming Mr. Manohar Lal said that the demand for the construction of welcome gate at Namastey Chowk had been going on for a long time, which has now been fulfilled today. She congratulated all the citizens of the city for this.

On this occasion, Deputy Commissioner and Municipal Commissioner, Mr. Nishant Kumar Yadav, former MLA Nilokheri, Mr. Bhagwan Das Kabirpanthi and other dignitaries were also present on this occasion.
