Chandigarh October 7: Buoyed with the success of Super-100 programme of the State Government, under which 25 students of Haryana have got admission to IIT this year, Haryana Chief Minister, Mr Manohar Lal today announced to increase the number of coaching centres under Super-100 programme from two to four. At present two coaching centres are functional in Haryana, one at Panchkula and other at Rewari. The Chief Minister also announced collateral-free loan facility for the students pursuing higher education in the State so as to ensure that education of students does not suffer for the want of money.

Mr Manohar Lal was addressing the IITians and their family members at a programme organized here today. Education Minister, Mr Kanwar Pal was also present on this occasion.

The Chief Minister said that to avail collateral-free loan through the banks, the student should be a Domicile of Haryana and can avail the facility for pursuing higher education anywhere in the country as well as abroad. He said that to ensure that the student or the family do not feel the burden of loan, the State Government will give guarantee for the same. However, the loan will have to be repaid in installments once the student completes his education and starts earning.

While congratulating the students for getting admission to IIT, one of the premier institutes of the Country, he exhorted them not to be self-centric and work for the progress of society, state and country. He said that their success will also inspire other students to perform better and achieve success in their lives.

He said that Super-100’ programme was started in 2018 under which centres were established in Rewari and Panchkula. Meritorious underprivileged students of government schools are given coaching in these Centres for admission in premier institutes like IITs. The Government school students who score more than 80 per cent marks in Class 10th are given special coaching for JEE and NEET after going through a written test and special screening process. The expenditure on hostel, food and stationery and other facilities is borne by the State Government.

The Chief Minister said that the State Government has created an atmosphere for education in the State. The students are not only being provided quality education but they are given special coaching also so that they can get admission in premier educational institutes of the country. He said that Haryana has taken rapid strides towards enhancement of education in recent years under which special emphasis has been given on girl’s education. An arrangement of one Women College has been made at a distance of every 15 kms in the State, he added.

While terming the no-detention policy in education as a big disadvantage for the students, he said that the present State Government has always opposed this system of education. He said that various new reforms have been included in the New Education Policy-2020 which will be in the interest of the students. He said that all the bottlenecks which were creating hindrances in imparting of quality education to students have been removed in the New Education Policy.

The Chief Minister said that as a result of the transparent recruitment system adopted by the State Government in the last six years, the interest of students towards education has increased significantly as also their faith towards the functioning of the Government. The present State Government has eliminated corruption, nepotism and regionalism in government jobs that was prevailing in earlier regimes. Apart from this while the interview process in recruitment to Class-III and IV government jobs of Haryana Staff Selection Commission (HSSC) has been abolished , the marks of interview for the posts filled by Haryana Public Service Commission (HPSC) has been reduced from 25 per cent to 12.5 per cent to minimize the scope of irregularity in recruitment.

Speaking on this occasion, Education Minister, Mr Kanwar Pal said that it is a matter of pride for the State that this year 25 students of Haryana have got admission to IIT. He said that their achievement will also inspire other students of the State to achieve new heights in their life. He also thanked the Chief Minister for increasing the number of coaching centres under the Super-100 programme from two to four.
